In what capacity?

Maybe I misinterpreted, but I read it as who cares about Alabama basketball when we can watch the NFL.

Walton knew that Chuck blocked the ball and said it. then he had to explain to the other announcer three times that officials can review a goaltending but not a block. So the play would be reviewed. It was, and he was right, a block. Walton is goofy, but he knows the game.

That same dude did that to Walton like 10 times in three games. However, he wasn't the best either. He was pretty harsh and disrespectful with his corrections which caused many cringe-worthy awkward moments.

Also the other guy said they could only review it if they called a goaltend on the floor and he kept saying they didn't for some unknown reason. That's what Bill corrected him on. Bill was the one asking him if they could review it (while they were reviewing it ), because he had no idea if it could be reviewed or not.

I didn’t take that as that being his opinion, but the opinion of the average sports fan

His scout must’ve been Alabama for this tournament because for each of our 3 games, I felt like he really only talked about our players and their backgrounds.

It's like the dude was living off the cheat sheet and didn't know there was a back side. He really only ever talked about their hometowns though.

teams than any other time I've listened to him.

Was thinking this as well

No one is really listening but Bill is at his best when its a PAC 12 game at 1 EST and a blowout

On the goaltending note, I believe the official called it because he wanted to review it to make sure (probably the right call). However, that could have been a disaster for us. The officials need to have the procedure on goaltends changed. Maybe call the goaltend with a hand-signal and blow the whistle once the ball has been possessed?

Fortunately, the possession arrow was in our favor, but that could have been a game-changer if we didn't have the possession arrow or if we had another tie up. It's bad enough that you've given them the opportunity to set up full-court pressure, which almost affected the outcome by itself.

Agreed, we could have been hosed there. They still got the steal on the inbounds, which shouldn't have happened.

Biggest win since Gonzaga last year and all the discussion is about Bill Walton and the refs?

frick Bill and the refs. But I gotta give mad props to this team for the fight they showed today. I think it's a great confidence builder for the guys to know they can beat the number 1 team. But, they also put a lot of tape out there that can be used for improving.

Still think we need Dom Welch to come in and be a shooter. Really like the depth we have across the board. The 3 PGs are all playing better than I expected they would at this point. When they get a little more chemistry they are gonna blow teams away.

Gonna be a lot of inbound practicing this week. Glad we get a little time off to build on what we showed at this tournament.

FOG post of the month.

Unless you can say you've watched (or listened to on AM radio because ESPN didn't exist and FM didn't broadcast hoops) Bama basketball since CM Newton you can call me a FOG. If you can't then you can shove that FOG stuff up your arse.

Sorry if you don't understand that outside Alabama and North Carolina very few eyeballs watched this game, that's your fault for not knowing where college hoops falls in the average sports watching pecking order. In this case, that's not a negative for Alabama at all. We just beat a blue blood away from home in a game that went 4 OTs. The huge positive impact will hit in the morning and only increase from there.

Our game was the marquee game for college basketball this afternoon. Everyone knows the NFL does massive ratings in comparison to any other sport. That's not the point of pride here. This game was on a national stage for the college basketball world. It wasn't big for the whole world but that's not important. The point is our players played in a pressure packed environment against the highest competition and they got the W.

And you can beat your chest about CM Newton all you want but you sound like a FOG when you come in here and poo poo on beating the #1 team in the country in 4 OTs.

Depth of Alabama Basketball Shows Up in 4OT Win over No. 1 North Carolina (SI)

With Noah Clowney out with injury and Brandon Miller struggling from the floor, the Crimson Tide needed other players to step up.

It'd have been a much bigger and exciting game for the players had there been more than 1000 fans in attendance.

Or maybe not. Maybe the players don't really care how many fans are there fir a preseason tournament like this.

Can’t tell me UConn isn’t one of the 2-3 best teams in America.

I agree that they are pretty good.I hope we continue to get this young team to gel and reduce turnovers. Lots of potential.

They’re definitely a well coached and talented team. Did they beat Iowa State?

Attendance and atmosphere are going to be a big problem when they put this thing in Portland every year. Great event and I understand the Nike ties but moving it around might make for better game atmospheres.
