I like Rylans energy but he can’t play without fouling. Some are stupid ones too

i thought the offense was to one-on-oneish. they never seemed to get into a good rhythm. whether that was from, it's my time to shoot attitude, or from the uconn defense, i'd proly lean towards the uconn d. they seemed to disrupt the bama offense regularly. plus bama's insistence on shooting layups in amongst the trees with a lack of rebounding. i'm actually surprised bama kept it as close as they did, until the end that is.
oh well, roll tide and move on to the next one

Not sure why they tried to sprinkle miles in the lineup last night he looked lost

I think at that point in the game, Oats was just trying anything to get the team going.

I think the team just couldn't comprehend Bill Waltons geography lessons of the State of Alabama and they just couldn't focus on the game.

We found out what our kryptonite is. A strong big man that can hit his shots is going to give us problems because our "big" men are weak as creek water and foul too much.

That loss is on me. I fished yesterday. Came home and sat around thinking the game started at 9:30. I would have realized it started at 8:30, but after three 9% beers I fell asleep on the couch, and woke up at about 9:20, just in time for halftime.
So, I restarted the game and watched on a delay. My lack of live support was probably the difference.
But, Uconn was just better last night. Their defense really stymied what we tried to do. Hopefully the team continues to improve. A win against UNC, and all is forgiven.

quote:Clown. The first part of your statement was partially correct. It was our first game all season against a perimeter threat at center.
because our "big" men are weak as creek water and foul too much.
We’ve been able to camp the paint all season and our size has been a problem for everyone.
Sanogo brought his assignment to the perimeter, opening up driving lanes and their offense was able to generate open looks all night.
The hyperbole in here after a win or loss aside. We have a very young team with an extremely high ceiling. Exposing us to a new look early in the season will only be good for us. We’ll be better prepared the next time we’re put in a similar situation.

Just got done watching the game and honestly UConn is just the better team. Bodybagged Miller and completely stymied our offense. I do think we tried to do too much one on one at times and that hurt ball movement.
A few bright spots..I thought Bradley looked good and I think he needs more minutes going forward even if it means Q’s minutes are cut. Clowney is going to be a good one too. Love his game.
Going forward, will be interesting to see how Nate manages the minutes and rotations. In my opinion, any minutes Miles and Gurley get are better served going to someone else. And I think Bradley deserves more. How Nate manages that with locker room chemistry remains to be seen.
I still think this team is going to have a great season and if it continues to improve can be a Final Four team. Need to beat Carolina on Sunday. They haven’t been impressive at all. And if we leave there 1-2, with the only win over a Michigan St. team without two of its best players, frankly I don’t know how you spin that other than a disappointing weekend.

This game was obviously a disappointment but enjoy Brandon Miller while he’s here. Young man obviously has some things to improve on but will be a star in the league for a long, long time.

So anyone that expresses an opinion differing from yours is a "clown?"

We’ve gotta have better output from our post players offensively. Specifically Bediako and Gurley. Gurley has missed too many three pointers badly and it’s turning into a wasted possession. I’m not understanding why we’re not seeing more of Nick Pringle. We need toughness in the post and the only tough interior guys we have are Clowney and Pringle.
At guard we have to drive smarter. Quinerly and Sears both need to incorporate a floater into their game.
Quinerly’s passing is also inexcusable. He passes too hard, no need to put that much heat on passes and it leads to turnovers.

Bama's schedule is ridiculous.
Michigan State, UConn, NC, Houston, Gonzaga and Memphis in 6 of 7 games.
2-4 against that would be a great record!!

quote:Those two fools are the worst crew of basketball announcers I've ever seen! Walton is a drugged-out old hippie who's so full of himself that his obsession with trying to show us how smart he is, completely blots out the action of the game itself. And on top of it all, half the crap he spews is incorrect (the Tennessee River runs through Tuscaloosa!).
I think the team just couldn't comprehend Bill Waltons geography lessons of the State of Alabama and they just couldn't focus on the game.
It seems like ESPN is purposefully trying to sabotage ALL their TV sporting events!

Agree 100%. They both are quick enough to beat people to the basket but get blocked when they get there. A floater would really help both - and both have shot those, just not enough. Also, I know we are not going to post up a big man to feed, but several times last night, Bediako got stuck inside. He and Pringle should work on a hook shot.

1. UCONN was the better team.
2. I get the “last year” feeling as soon as JQ or Miles come in the game. I honestly think both of their minutes should be reduced. I hate it for JQ, but too much “jelly” to beat a disciplined, well coached basketball school. You have to get your teammates involved….
3. That being said, if JQ can discover a way to blend with the studs as a role player, we should be near the top of the SEC this year. We knew there would be addition by subtraction of the “knuckle heads” from last year…..but we may have a couple still on the roster.

1. Correct
2. I agree with Miles. By tournament time, JQ will be a valuable part of this team.
3. This thread is too reactionary, not you in particular, but an early win or loss doesn’t make us a great or bad team. We have a very big, athletic team and performances throughout the season will fluctuate depending on how well we shoot the ball. Our elite defense will put us in position to do great things in the tournament.
