I spent 5 years in ACC country. All I heard was how superior it was and that the SEC was barely above junior college ball.
I'm rooting for 5 or 6 SEC in the elite 8 and an all SEC Final Four. Could live with 2 of 4.
Only time you should have conference pride (or thinking about rooting for a rival) is during the OOC portion of the regular season schedule. Especially after this year, I want all of our rivals to get eliminated with a quickness. Especially since we're in constant recruiting battles with them as well.

I want to beat them in the NCAA tournament on way to championship and make them our bitch.

Apparently, his injury may be more of an issue than we hoped.
Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Purdue is the 1st team to be eliminated by a 13-seed or worse in 3 consecutive NCAA Tournaments.

Alabama’s Brandon Miller will play tonight against Maryland. I’m told he’s about 80 percent due to groin injury suffered during SEC tourney. Was scoreless in first-round win. Will have no minutes restrictions tonight.

Almost all of our NCAA tournament games are out of conference. The way I see it, the stronger the SEC the better. The better the conference, the better our SOS. The stronger the competition we play the better prepared come tournament time. Constantly playing a bunch of "weak sisters" is not really any fun. The Tide recruits Nationally and with our coach and our style of play we're fast getting to a place where he can get pretty much the players he wants except for die hard fans.

I agree. At the latest I would have sat him as soon as we built a 20 point lead and started coasting. It was clear they were grossly outmatched.
The biggest danger is aggravation/reinjury and missing or being severely limited the next 2 weeks.

I hate how late we play tonight. I’d would have preferred being the 11:15am game over this.

To put it in perspective, if you were to convert the final regular season KP rankings from 2017 into NET rankings, UMBC would have been a Q3 loss for UVA on a neutral floor. They weren't some great team or anything, but they weren't your typical 16 seed either. Conversely, FDU is one of the worst teams to ever end up in the NCAA tournament. They were like the 4th best team in the worst conference in the country and only made the field because the teams that finished ahead of them were ineligible.
It's arguably the biggest upset in North American sports since the 1980 U.S. men's hockey team beating the Soviets. Definitely the biggest since App State over Michigan.

I’d go with Buster Douglas over Tyson, NC State over Houston, and possibly Villanova over Georgetown as bigger upsets. That’s me, not Vegas. I thought all year Perdue was overrated. Also think Houston may be overrated as well. They really haven’t played anyone with a pulse this year but Alabama and St Mary’s.

It’s not even close to the Miracle

ar, I want all of our rivals to get eliminated with a quickness.
That’s how you end up with >20 wins, first in the west (BB used to have divisions) and an overall SEC second best record of 12-4 and fail to get invited to the tourney as happened to Bama in 2011.
Conference reputation puts you over the top if you’re close. It’s in Bama’s best interest for them to do well.
Playing for the best team in the best conference is a far better recruiting tool than saying play for us, the rest of those guys suck.

FDU will be forgotten about.

Unless they make a miracle run to final four, only time they will be brought up is at tournament when an upset occurs or during a 1 vs 16 broadcast.

Ladies play at 4:30 on ESPN2. I’m sure I’ll be watching Ark-Kan and just checking in. If they really wanted to help the women’s tourney, they wouldn’t run it up against the men’s tourney

So best case scenario, Miller plays as much as needed tonight, we get out with a win, and then he's got five-ish days of rest.
