A&M beat Arky and only shot 10 FTs. Good for them for breaking that stereotype.

I would love for this to have involved football players rather than basketball because Saban is so much more polished dealing with the media. I feel like today there was one question that was asked of Brandon and there was a long pause after - I was really hoping CNO would jump in and take over right there. Can you imagine what Saban would have said as soon as dipshit asked JQ if he owned a gun??? I can almost guarantee he would have gone OFF.

Just FYI, some of the dumbest questions to the guys and Oats were asked by Pat Forde, who then had the audacity to write an article about how the press conference was tense and hostile. He and Goodman were the only two “hostile” reporters, and they looked foolish.
That would be like me making big deal over how messy the kitchen is when I was the one that did the cooking. You can’t cause an issue and then report, “People are causing issues here.”

Be hilarious if the guy taking that video filed charges on that Arky assistant.
It’s a low level misdemeanor that would be meaningless long term but would be a PITA for them.

Vandy’s NET is still 79. Probably have to beat A&M today to have a shot.

After what happened to A&M last year, Vandy will probably have to win the tournament. It just doesn’t seem like the committee puts as much stock in these games as people want them to.

Yeah it seems like the last few years they don’t put much stock in conferences tourneys at all
Posted on 3/11/23 at 7:17 am to Allthatfades
Conference tourneys aren't useless but they aren't weighted in the committee's eyes
Example: See aTm last season

College basketball needs an Arkansas-Michigan game that ends with the winning team making an uncontested highlight reel dunk with 3 seconds left despite having a 9 point lead. The scene of 5'2" 120 pound Eric Musselman and 6'10" 250 pound Juwan Howard trying to fight each other would be great.

UFC 287's MAIN CARD:
JUWAN HOWARD VS ERIC MUSSELMAN
I would legit pay to watch that

Top-Seeded Alabama Cruises Past No. 9 seed Mississippi State, 72-49, in SEC Tournament Quarterfinals
The Crimson Tide advances to Saturday’s semifinal against Missouri
The No. 4/5 Alabama men's basketball team cruised to a 72-49 win over Mississippi State in Friday's Southeastern Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Bridgestone Arena. The Crimson Tide's 23-point victory over the ninth-seeded Bulldogs was its third-largest margin of victory in the UA's tournament's history.
The Crimson Tide led from start-to-finish, building a 20-point halftime advantage and extended its lead to as many as 25 points in the second half. Alabama finished the game with 21 assists and 12 made three-pointers, both of which stand second-most in an SEC Tournament game in program history, while its 37 three-point attempts set a program tournament record.
Freshman Brandon Miller, who was named as a Naismith Trophy semifinalist prior to the contest, led Alabama with 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Jahvon Quinerly made his first start of the season and finished with 10 points, four assists and a pair of steals. Noah Gurley added 11 points off the bench while Charles Bediako added 11 points and five blocks in the win.
The Tide improved to 27-5 this year, matching the program record of most wins in a season, while Mississippi State falls to 21-12 on the year.
HEAD COACH NATE OATS POSTGAME COMMENTS
"It was a good start to the tournament. We obviously didn't play very well last time we were out at Texas A&M, so we needed to bounce back. We've bounced back off losses pretty well all year. I think the margin of victory after a loss is 20-plus points. We did that again today. The question is can we continue to play like this for the next two days. But I thought our guys were very focused. They were really into the defensive end, which is what we needed. We made a change in the lineup, obviously. Took our Sixth Man of the Year in the SEC (Jahvon Quinrely) and put him in the starting lineup. I just thought we were struggling offensively to start games. We get to the end of the four-minute media timeout, have two points, three points. Lastly, it was Charles' birthday today. Our guys are great. They gave him a big, huge birthday celebration this morning, sang to him. He finished with five blocks on his birthday, too. I thought he controlled the paint pretty well. He won the hardhat for all the blue-collar points."

I think they still use them to sort out the bubble as it existed before the conference tournaments started. Like a last 4 in type team being one and done is in serious trouble and a first 4 out winning 2-3 games but losing in the semis or the final has probably secured a spot. I don't think they put any stock at all in a team who was getting minimal consideration at the end of regular season play doing anything short of securing the auto-bid though.

At this point I think that ESPN is just fricking with us by having Jimmy Dykes call every one of our games.
