You think Kentucky will pay him $10 million. Lol. I know enough to know that’s not going to happen. Lol

In what fricking world is Nate Oats better than peak Pitino and Calipari? You need to settle down here, he hasn’t even sniffed that yet
Also Bill Self is a Kansas lifer and Tom Izzo is a Michigan local/ GOAT MSU coach in his mid 70’s. Why on earth are you citing them?
Pearl, Barnes, Oats, hell even Musselman are all valid targets right now. If Kentucky is this massive career making juggernaut, why wouldn’t they be interested in all three? They all have solid resumes. They’re going to cast a massive net and very few programs won’t be wondering if they’ll have to bid them away
Again, you’re overrating Kentucky incredibly right now. They are a great program, but Calipari’s pre-Kentucky resume was far more proven than Oats and he wasn’t a shoe in for titles. By the time he made it to Kentucky he had three elite eights, two final fours, and a runner up. He went 137-14 in four years at Memphis

The one name that’s not being mentioned is Scott Drew. Damn good basketball coach with a resume to back it up

I don't disagree. You think I'd give a shite if BAMA wrote Nate Oats a $50m check for the next 5 years??

Because they're the highest paid coaches genius.

Never said he was. But do you think Oats has peaked?

UK wouldn't even interview Rick Barnes or Bruce Pearl.

It isn't what UK is now or what they were under Cal. It's about what they could be under Oats.
The reason Oats doesn't have more wins than he does is because he's coaching at BAMA.

I'd be shocked if UK doesn't hire the first guy they interview.

I sure don’t I’m no basketball expert like yourself. I have no idea what Oats will or won’t do like you seem to know.
But I know this… they’re not going to pay Oats no $10 million dollars a yr. lol. But you do. lol

People that know basketball know how good Oats is. I don't think you grasp it yet.

Drew makes a ton of sense, the question would be whether he walks away from what he spent 20 years building. His salary is a paltry 2.7M so it’s never seemed like a money issue for him but it’s also an incredibly low bar to beat for Kentucky
There’s probably 12-15 guys out there that are going to get feelers over the next week, Drew, Pearl, Oats, Donovan, Otzelburger, Lloyd, Underwood, etc.

There’s calling Oats good, and then there’s going on a rant about how Oats is going to be a perennial final four and title game guy simply because it’s Kentucky. Something which Pitino and Calipari had short spans of doing in an era where spending was far more lopsided
My point is you’re arguing that Oats is a hall of fame coach without the actual resume to even make that assertion. He’s a good coach, but making one final four does not make him Calipari 2.0.

I think UK would be foolish to not pay him $10m. And I think it'd be just as foolish for Oats to not make them pay him that. Does that satisfy your delicate sensibilities? Obviously I don't know any more than you do.
You seem to think that $10m is some ungodly number. And you clearly don't know shite about UK basketball or their fans. I lived with those folks for years. Basketball is like football in Alabama. You understand that, right?
Why would paying Oats $10m be any weirder than paying DeBoer?

He doesn't have a HOF resume yet. And he's been at BAMA. You remember how shitty BAMA basketball had been? Our program was less than stellar.
You guys are thinking BAMA is a great program. They aren't. UK is.
Pitino was at UK 8 years. 1st 2 they were ineligible for the tourney.
The next 6 years:
Elite 8 x 2
Final Four
Runner up
Natty (not in that order)
Yeah. Pitino didn't struggle at UK. Pitino made one Final Four at Providence before he got to UK.

Some seem to think Oats walked into a great situation and has done the job any number of coaches could have. Doesn't matter that BAMA had been to one Elite 8 and 0 Final Fours in the history of the program.
Oats has done both already. What coach has a better resume in the last 4 years than Oats not named Hurley?
Yeah, but that's just because BAMA was a sleeping giant I guess.

I’d make that bet on $10 million a yr, lol

Is this what bama football feels like?

Been told by one source that Calipari will have access to an NIL package that will rank among the best in college basketball. Excess of $5 million per year.

What's amazing is that you don't see how stupid it is to propose a bet on the internet with a stranger.

I'm not even sure that the situation with NIL at BAMA football is that good by comparison.
