What sucks most it is that is really suppose to be for coaches who jump ship or get fired.

Instead it is being used to try to gut arguably the most stable program of the last two decades cause the greatest coach of all time retired.

I hate losing the depth but honestly I'm am not as upset as most, although I definitely don't want to lose anymore players.

Just over the last 3 years we have seen terrible Oline play, mediocre inside linebacker play, weak safety depth, QB development issues, and wide receivers who can't catch just to name a few problems.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I really just want to see this coaching staff get to work with the guys who (with their NIL) want to stay and see if we can get our first team at an elite level cause honestly all this depth hasn't helped us much at times.

Yep, this shite is on the staff this year to coach well, inspire interest and start recruiting like a mofo

We’ve been playing with a 53 man roster since 09. Quality depth never hurts but that quality depth lies in the 53 not 76 player rotation

I don't have an issue with players being able to transfer after a coaching change. The issue I have with it is that the window opens when the vacancy is created, not when it's filled. To me that signals to the players that they should transfer if there's a coaching change. It should open when a new coach is hired, that way they are being encouraged to transfer if they simply don't like the guy or if he has a different vision for the team that they don't really fit into. That at least encourages some degree of stability. The way it's done now prompts a snowball effect. I mean it's bad now. Imagine how bad it would have gotten if we weren't able to make a hire in 2 days.

Thank You! I feel like I was the only one taking crazy pills thinking this. I will thank Coach Saban till the cows come home for making the program what it is today but to just ignore the obvious cracks in the foundation over the last 5 or 6 years is just turning a blind eye. The lack of mental discipline our teams have had recently, the lack of killer instinct the OL has had, the completely wide open RBs that run on our defense has been nauseating.

I’ll say this. Alabama is in need of some good news today. Would be nice if they would start putting out official announcements of coaching hires or something.

Let Proctor go home to Idaho. Let Keeley go back to ND.

I'm more excited about guys like Russaw, Alexander, Mitchell and Prerre getting a shot to play more now. I've been wanting to see them play and feared they would transfer.

Hopefully they all stay now that PT has opened up.

Let’s hope these guys stay in the fold. I’d bet my life AU has made a strong arse offer to James Smith, Russaw, Alexander, etc. along with every other school out there.

Also, the window shouldn't be 30 fricking days. Players should have 7 days AFTER the coach is announced.

There also needs to be SEVERE financial penalties for back-channeling or making financial offers to players who have not officially entered the portal. Something like a $1mm fine. I have no idea how you would enforce this, but the NFL does a damn good job of regulating contact between teams with coaches.

In the end, you might see buyouts becoming a feature of NIL deals, with the contract saying you owe money if you transfer.

If all it takes for these kids is a bigger bag to leave then frick em and let em go. I don't want them to wear the A from my alma mater they don't deserve too. I'm all for kids making money but you have to have brains and loyalty to the school to go with the money. Bama isn't going nowhere regardless of who stays or goes.

Absolutely. Need to have players on contracts like pros (which they now are anyway). Time and money limits, team salary caps, free agency rules etc. Just do what the NBA and NFL do. They do not get sued.

I e been at the company I work for 16 years. If another company gives me a $100,000 raise, I’m out.

Right there with you on this.

Saban is the GOAT, but I definitely think his staffs in recent years were holding us back (obviously, we still had a ton of success; I'm thinking of it in terms of talent optimization) and it seemed like developmental issues were starting to creep up in places where they hadn't before. Not to mention that some schematic things had gone a bit stale / been figured out by other teams. Not celebrating Saban's retirement or anything, but I am excited to see what we'll look like with the new staff. Seems like a staff that really has the X's and O's and developmental stuff of the modern game down pat.
