Sure we could have lost some players probably but I doubt we would have lost Sayin at least. Downs probably would have leaned more to stay, maybe Bond as well. Hope Austin Mack is as good as people say or Ty develops quickly.

Im sure Deboer is a great gameday coach but his ability to recruit the people there is appalling so that doesnt give a great feeling about future recruiting. If he wins it will be easy. Lets hope he can!

If DeBoer can't make it work in 4 years and Kiffin hasn't flamed out again as a HC then maybe Alabama should consider it.

Kiffin has been fired from 3 different jobs - one of them being Alabama

I was tooting the horn for Kiffin. I do think he would have done very well at Alabama.

But he's dating a girl barely out of college. He was probably bangin' chicks IN college while at Bama. And Donors' wives.

That may fly in a little backwater like Ole Miss. But the spotlight shines too brightly at Bama for that.

Exhibit B: Mike Price.

It really isn’t though. Downs and Bond left for money. There is nothing to suggest that Kiffin would have raised more NIL cash for them

You could maybe argue that Sayin stays because of the Kiffin offense. But that completely ignores that Penix was great with DeBoer/Grubb and average without them

I am by no means a negative Bama fan, but I kind of agree. Any kind of familiarity after a major shock is helpful. We went from one major shock to the next. I think this is going to turn into a rebuild we didn't need at this point.

Kiffin was not going to keep this roster together, you guys are crazy. We weren't going to magically start paying everyone more

This just isn’t true. Downs wasn’t leaving if Saban stayed.
Maybe bonds. He’s the only transfer that may have left regardless.

Probably true for Bond but my guess is Kiffin would’ve kept T-Rob and Downs would’ve stayed.

Seeing people say that all of these transfers was inevitable is funny. Half of the problem is these guys never heard of our coach until two weeks ago. There’s no way we’d be bleeding transfers if we had hired a known commodity amongst the SEC.

The risk of Kiffin was the “he’ll flame out in a few years” but DeBoer’s risk is that he could never get this thing off the ground.

I wanted Kiffin for this exact reason. He’d have the balls to come in guns blazing and get kids to stay.

But I don’t know if that would have been the best hire for the long term. I’m thrilled with who we have.

Things would look MUCH better if we had a plan.

They’ll write books about how poorly we adjusted to the new rules. And it wouldn’t have been difficult at all to avoid these idiotic mistakes.

Solid money + Saban = Staying
Solid money + No Saban = Gone

Without Nick, these guys are gone. That is what you guys are missing. Nick leveled the playing field for us.

Kiffin also would’ve brought over a ton of talent from Ole Miss. DeBoer hasn’t brought anyone so far other than a scout team QB. Hopefully that changes soon.
