This game against Mercer could be (potentially) very annoying

According to Saban, they run the Wing-T triple option. Hopefully this won't be a "shite through a tin horn" kinda game Saturday afternoon.

Exactly. I think our d gonna be out there alot of the time as the offense will probably be quick down the field. I really hope we rotate alot of guys in.

I think they’re more of spread option type of team akin to what Georgia Southern does now more than what service academies run.

Flexbone teams are the ones that have given us trouble - ‘11 Ga Southern and ‘18 Citadel

One major difference is that it was GA Southern in 2011 who were pretty talented and coached by Jeff Monken. Mercer has a 1st year head coach and I wouldn’t think are going to be as talented.

I hate games like this. Such a beauty last year not to have to waste a weekend where all we're worried about is no injuries.
There is literally no gain in playing this game. Maybe a chance for a dad to take his young child to a Bama game for the first time.

JMO but the speed of #10 and #8 is going to be a problem for Mercer. The Bama offense has to get out there and put TD's on the board (not FG's) and remove any doubt from Mercer that they can stick with Bama.

Should be a great week for the OL to get better with the running game.

The only redeeming quality about this shitty game is I am interested to see some of the studs we recruited get some playing time.

Y’all remember when Georgia Southern did this shite and scored like 21 or 24 on us some years ago. Could be one of those games.

True, but Saban needs to get real. Let our starters get out there for a few series, and then put in the backups. We don’t need our starters to get a 6 TD lead before the backups come in. Our second team is more than capable of handling these nobodies

We won our games last year by an average of 30 points and last week our game against #14 was over by halftime. I don’t get why people pretend that every P5 opponent we play is a competitive game.

I find these games annoying because we’re that good, but last season I also missed games like Montana-Washington, Tulane-OU, etc. from this past week.

Do y’all seriously worry we’re gonna lose when we line up against the typical Arkansas, Kentucky, Miss State or nowadays Tennessee team?

These teams also tend to cut block.

Remember Charleston about 10 years ago?

I can at least feel satisfied we've beaten a bad Tennessee, Arkansas, or Miss State team though and look forward to crushing them. I feel nothing for Mercer which is why this game feels like a waste.

The only reason I can come up with, in regards to hating Mercer, is the fact that Nancy Grace went there

I don’t think 10 plays this week. Just let him rest and let Moody get it.

Agreed. Get the game in hand quickly and let the back ups get meaningful snaps.

This week is an excellent chance for the new/old receivers to get on track and the OL to work and get better.

People tend to get hurt when they don't have their head completely into the game. #10 got hurt after our receiver shite the bed on that 3rd drop that started about 8-10 minutes of loss of concentration and the only success Miami had. #10 should have been standing on the sideline while the offense moved in for the COMPLETE kill at that point.

I thought Saban said he'd never schedule a triple option team again after Georgia Southern in 2011.
PS- Saban was hot after that game...ask Dre Kirkpatrick how he liked the game...stayed on his arse for 1/2 of it!

The issue is these schools won't stop changing coaches . When we scheduled them in 2016 for the 2 game series they weren't an option team. I think they ran the spread when we played them in 2017. We should have in the contract the minute you hire an option coach the contract is null and void .

Put in the game contract that if injuries happen because of style of play, such as cut blocking...etc. then their payout gets cut.

Cut blocking seriously pisses me the frick off, its a cheap fricking way to gain an edge over an opponent.
