None of us know all the details of the situation but it was evident that many of the offensive players didn't give a proper effort in the USF game last season when Ty was playing.
There were opportunities last season to make changes and it wasn't done and carried into this season. Aside from the QB debacle, the handling of the offensive line has been a disaster for the past few years.
Like someone else said earlier, perhaps it was an issue earlier on and now some of those players have had enough. It was obvious today that Germie, Ryan, CJ and others were pissed at Milroe.
I'll just say this. No one can convince me that Milroe was the best QB option each of these past two seasons. The others weren't given a fair opportunity to prove themselves. We may never know the real reasons. It might make a good 30 for 30.

You’re gonna tell me a true freshman WR and a portal WR gonna command that type of respect year one from established veterans? Nah I don’t think so
Kid’s only 17, you know.
Milroe made that kid disappear in the second half of the season

When they are better than the veterans you should respect them

There’s no evidence that our team did not play hard for Ty. That’s pure internet speculation. Once milroe started after that game he still was the most sacked qb in the sec. I’m no milroe guy but let’s stop the narrative that the team won’t play for Ty. These guys wanna win and they could care less if it were Fidel Castro playing qb as long as the playmakers are getting the ball.

He can't be worse. Mack can't be worse. Whoever it is...

Great post. And I think the following is the most objective description I've seen yet of the USF debacle: "None of us know all the details of the situation but it was evident that many of the offensive players didn't give a proper effort in the USF game last season when Ty was playing."

#wintheteam.
Milroe should have been benched at 10rc.

IIRC there was one instance where Ty was sacked and an OL standing a couple of yards away made zero move to help him up. If you want to encourage internet speculation, that's a pretty good way to go about it.

I guess it was just stupid logic on our part.

People act like Ty came in the USF game and just sucked it up like Buckner. He wasn’t great but he managed the game decently considering the conditions. Did no harm which was all we needed today. Some guys get better with more real time reps and experience. We have no clue if Ty could improve but we know for sure Milroe didn’t.
Maybe I need to go back a rewatch it.

I've just been saying that maybe we didn't have a better option...
Holstein, our third stringer, transferred to Pitt, and played pretty damn well. Over 2,000 yds and 17 TDs.
So theoretically, by being our number two, Simpson was better than him.
Hell, after the Tennessee game, I’d have rather had either of them to finish the year,
Yet here we are several losses later, and still don’t know if TS can play.
Frustrating shite!!

No, we can’t “prove” there was a “revolt” of sorts by the offense vs USF other than some claiming to have knowledge saying there was AND some really half hearted effort by the offense. Offensive linemen (ALL of them) consistently whiffing on blocks. RBs not running hard and completely whiffing in pass protection over and over. WRs running poor routes, dropping easy passes and just kind of jogging around out there.
Simpson being sacked or knocked to the ground and several times, our guys just walked by him with no effort to help him up.
Maybe I’m just a conspiracy theorist but it seemed pretty obvious to me it was all a giant middle finger to CNS and Simpson. Personally, I’d have liked to have seen CNS literally bench all of the offense the entire season and if need be, play true freshmen and walk ons the rest of the season.
And I don’t give a damn if we lost every game that season. Crappy attitudes should NEVER be tolerated. Period.

Saban let it fester, cut and ran and dumped it on DeBoer.
Byrne played his part too.

DeBoer said that all positions would be open for competition. Then he, Byrne, and Saban sit with Milroe courtside at a basketball game. Then UA starts promoting LANK and the NIL produces a documentary on Milroe. Just mindblowing stupid to help entrench the guy as the returning starter. I’m sure the other QBs really felt like they were given a fair shot.
Then to see DeBoer say that Milroe’s job was never in jeopardy after playing so poorly and trying to trip people…

quote:I don’t think so. I think back to Saban in 2017 with Tua of course, but there have been other similar circumstances. WRs were frustrated with Kelly Bryant before Dabo brought T-Law in. UGA rallied around Bennett in 2021 when Daniels was clearly not the answer.
I’m as frustrated as everyone else but now that the season is over, are the back-ups really just not that good?
In most of these situations, the head coach will hang on to a poorly performing starter for fear of upending a mostly working formula.
If you are making pizza dough and it’s a little flat lately even if it still mostly sells, you don’t sub AP flour for bread flour right away. You add a little more yeast. You let it rise longer. You make the center transfer for his bad snaps. You insist that your flour can’t be the problem, even though everyone has reviewed the flour online and says it sucks. Even if your flour still consistently takes unnecessary safeties, sacks, or passes beyond the LOS, it’s not the flour! After all, the flour won 7/8 against LSU, UGA, UT, & AU.

Absolutely, Simpson should have replaced Milroe at some point.
But let's be real about those 50 attempts. Who were they all against? No one worth a shite.
