I like Suttles, but he really has been leaning into the clickbait lately. I have no doubt Kiffin will be directing his trolling and tricks towards us because he knows that's a great way to get/stay on the radar, but that article was kind of ridiculous.

That said, Saban gave Kiffin a second chance and Alabama fans embraced him. Harboring any kind of "revenge" specifically against Alabama/Saban for the way things ended would be mighty douche on his part. Especially since Kiffin himself was at fault for that.

I can tolerate the cockiness of Kiffin on it's own but combine it with the pretentiousness & delusion of Ole Miss fans and it really is a perfect storm.

quote:

Kiffin offered Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran an on-the-field coaching position

If that's even true, goo luck with all that

Yea - and I'm sure behind the scenes he is still a little irritated at the way it ended, but in public the guy has done nothing but fawn over Saban. I mean, using the twitter stuff as anything other than Kiffin being Kiffin is pure silliness. Kiffin tweets funny shite because he's a funny, sarcastic a-hole (I say that in an endearing way). He also tweets stuff about how fantastic Saban is quite frequently.

I'm all in on seeing Kiffin doing a good job there nad bringing his swaggy arse to Tuscaloosa in 3-4 years.

Wanting to show up Saban would be the ultimate thing the old Kiffin would do; but you would think the Older Kiffin is beyond such churlishness.
I can see him forging an alliance with the Ogre to take down Saban; that would be fine, but disrespecting a man who helped resurrect your career and taught you how to run a successful program? That would be disgraceful.

Kiff has been a supporter of Bama since he left and has had almost nothing but positive things to say about the program and his time here.

I have a hard time believing that he is fueled by a burning passion to take Saban down.

Think Kiffin has learned not to burn all of his bridges. Doubt any of that article is true.

The whole premise of the article...that the reason he chose Ole Miss is a desire for revenge...is bullshite. It's nothing but supposition, and no quoted source says that.

So what if he offered all these guys on our staff? Why wouldn't he want the best he can get?

Why the hell wouldn't he...or any other coach...try to lure Cochran away? Kiffin isn't the first.

He's gonna target Saban on the recruiting trail? Well duhhhhh. Of course he is. What would anyone expect...that he goes after guys trying to decide between MTSU and UAB? He's going to go after top recruits, so naturally that means targeting Saban. And Orgeron. And Malzahn.

He took the Ole Miss job because it was the best available, and after winning 2 conference championships in 3 years, there's nothing left for him to accomplish at FAU. Why wouldn't he want to go to Ole Miss? He'll be on CBS at 2:30. He'll get to compete against the elite of college football...and not just Alabama. He'll be coaching in the Southeastern fricking Conference. As if that isn't good enough for the dumbass that wrote this article.

Kiffin had nothing but praise for Saban when he took the job and credited Saban for helping him to get where he is today. This article was nothing more than an attempt by Aaron Suttles to stay relevant and for The Athletic to sell subscriptions, and I'm not buying.

I am guessing Kiffin forgot that it was Nick who pulled his career out of the shitter after he got fired on the airport tarmac and no one was calling him

Only if you actually believe that bullshite article.

And if you haven't actually listened to a Kiffin interview since he was hired where he basically says exactly what you said.

Lots of sources about job offers being made...where the hell are the sources quoting Kiffin as saying anything about payback?

I read it on the internet, so it must be true.

What a stupid article.

Any coach would like to coach in the SEC. It’s not about revenge. For all the trolling Kiffin likes to do (and most of it’s pretty funny), he’s still always been appreciative of his time under Saban and almost always says so. He seems to have a solid appreciation for Saban.

Besides, Kiffin already got his revenge when Saban pushed him out a week before the NC and pissed away any chance we had of winning that game. He doesn’t need revenge. He just has to point back to that and laugh at what a stupid move that was. Neither vindication nor revenge gets any better than that, really.

What Coach Saban did for kiffin’s career is the same thing that Quentin Tarantino did for John Travolta’s career. Who ever wrote that hit piece article is a troll masquerading as a spots journalist. I’ve never heard of this suttle puke before.

Lots of people here have heard of Suttles and have read lots of his stuff...and they would agree with your assessment.

I doubt the validity of this article. Kiffin has had nothing but praise for Saban and Bama.

ETA: Kiffin took the Ole Miss job because it is a big step up the ladder. If he proves himself at Ole Miss he can pretty much grab the next big opening.

Consider the source. Aaron Suttles is one of the weakest reporters to ever cover Alabama Football. Stewart Mandel hates Alabama and that is who hired Suttles to write for The Athletic.

This angle is stupid. It’s basically a self-fulfilling prophesy. Are there coaches in the SEC west that DONT want to beat Saban, and wouldn’t take some of his assistants if they had the resources to do so?

If Kiffin was just motivated to beat Saban he could have gone to LSU with coach O.

Ole Miss likes to beat LSU, and will be at least as much trouble for them than Bama.

I think Kiffin will want to prove he's better than the shrimp boat captain.

Saban and Alabama will continue to be the team to beat in the West.

PS- I don't want him to get Bo as their DL coach.

Kiffin knows if he had done what he agreed to Bama would have won the National Championship and things would have been better.
I heard an interview the other day and Kiffin said all the right things. I can see him sending Saban a dozen roses and a box of candy for Christmas to smooth any bumps in the road.
Be surprised if he didn’t do everything he can to get along with the Goat.
