They lost 45-14.

Alabama can beat Oklahoma but I do consider them the biggest mismatch opponent on our schedule this year. They run the ball well, have a running QB who can hit open receivers, and they have an elite defensive line. Their strengths play against all our weaknesses.

Oklahoma’s defensive game plan last night reminded me a lot of Clemson when we lost to them in Santa Clara.

Spent most of the night getting gashed but somehow end up making a big interception or get away with DPI at just the right time?

You’re right. We will beat Oklahoma by 50 and probably don’t even have to play well.

Well, Mateer didn’t run for 192 yards. It was 80 yards for him and 114 for their RB.

I understand but it was a good running game for them regardless.

OU fighting to stay alive.. we better come out ready with a better game plan than South Carolina

If you are hoping for a return of the days when we didn’t have to worry about anyone, anywhere, anytime, you’re going to have a long wait. That ship has sailed in this new world of college football and it was well out onto the water when Saban was still here.
I prefer to concentrate on us doing what we need to do rather than get an ulcer worrying about what someone else might do, because if we do our thing the way we’re supposed to do it, we’ll be in good shape.
But if you want a completely worry-free existence you’d better find a different pastime than college football, Bama or otherwise.

Don’t we have another game to worry about before OU?

Yeah, LSU has its own set of concerns...

No, it really hasn’t. Not only are you missing the safety in the UT game, you’re giving full credit for 2 TDs where the defense gave the offense the ball on the other side of the 50yd line (both with 40yd or less to go to the end zone…it’s what won the game in the SC game). You’re also missing the offense giving the other team short fields (particularly the fumble out of halftime in the Miz game that almost cost us the game).
Alright, so 28 instead of 30 in the Tennessee game - that's still more than 22, which was the point of my message.
Your other two points are less relevant. What are we supposed to do, take away points unless the offense drives the length of the field? It's not like the two short fields you mention set the offense up with a first and goal from the one. They still had to move the ball to score. The point about giving the other team short fields doesn't really have anything to do with how much the offense scores. Seems like a reach.
Your post would make sense if my argument was that the offense has been playing at an elite level. Instead, I explicitly state that the offense can do more. My post was pointing out that LSU's offense is even worse.

Yes we do but again when everyone was coming on here having spasms because they were going to be up after the coaching change and woe is us, I made the same comment, if we take care of our business it will be OK.

Bama could win all 3 (by a large or minimal margin), lose all 3, or split in a couple of ways.
Bottomline: there is enough talent on all 3 rosters for anything to happen.
Just hope the team keeps their 1 game at a time mentality and keeps moving forward.

So what you’re saying is, our first play will be run up the gut…lol

Without question. Have to keep them honest right?

Look, I said some of the same... but in this environment, this post aged like milk on a gulf shores beach in the middle of July.

Oklahoma offense is not good. I think Bama has to be willing to play field position ball against them. UT lost that game because of turnovers

Since coming back rom his injury Mateer is averaging 183 passing yards per game and has 2 TDs and 4 INTs. He looked better against Tennessee, but even so he had 159 yards passing and had a QB rating of 104.
Oklahoma is a solid team, but I don't expect a huge problem from them I expect a close game once again.

Auburn, I think, has packed it in. LSU’s offense got Kelly fired. Yup, OU is THE game.
If we beat Auburn, LSU, and Eastern Illinois, I think we are in the playoffs no matter what happens in the Oklahoma game. But no matter what, we owe Oklahoma a couple of arse whippings.
