I get the frustration but it's not as bad as you think, yet not as good as we would expect with our talent at o-line. As good as we are, there does seem to feel like something is just "off" about our offense this season though.

At times there feels like there is no rhythm at all in the play calling but for the most part Bryce has bailed us out with his athletic ability and decision making. I've never seen Saban do anything like he did with Bryce with whatever conversation he had with him on the sideline Saturday night. Then just prior to that BOB was heated in the press box. Saying all of this, I am the type of person that over analyzes everything, and it could be nothing.

We have the talent to give any team this year a run for their money if we play like we have shown we are capable of. We just seem to be our own worst enemy for stretches of games which is to be expected with all of the new pieces on offense.

Guess I should edit that out because it's really just speculation. But it's not really out of the realm of possibility, seems like he isn't very liked anywhere he's coached

BOB and Marrone doing great. Dalcourt and Owens are average, it’s not the coaching. Wake up

I would like to see him develop somebody before we say he is doing great. Not really sure by what measure he is performing "great" at this point.

Wake up? Do you even know what you're watching?

How is Marrone doing great when he hasn't developed one of the many highly recruited kids (Kight, Pierce, Latham, Brockmeyer, etc) for RT?

How is BOB doing great when we're basically depending on our QB to make something out of with minimal creativity pre-snap and predictability after the snap?

Marrone definitely deserves some criticism for how the o-line has performed. I don't know that BOB deserves the same. He has to get some credit for the 2nd best offense averaging 45+ points per game.

I can see giving BOB a pass for now even though I’m underwhelmed with his play calling and lack of creativity on offense. I sort of feel like Young improvising and BRob playing like a mad man are more responsible for the 46 ppg than anything on the play sheet.

That said, Marrone gets no such pass. He has done diddly to develop a solution at RT or center. He gets an F.

I've got a question for some of you guys with more OL knowledge. Why don't our OL block until the whistle? There seems to be an initial effort and then a lot of standing and looking. We don't seem to have anyone with that Landon attitude of still looking to take someone's head off. Coaching??

In another post on this thread I called it physicality, or lack of a mean streak. Personally, I believe it's impossible to be a good Olineman without one (while on the field at least).
The LOS is basically hand-to-hand combat, and if/when you make your opponent doubt their ability to beat you, you've won 90% of the battle.

-- Left tackle Evan Neal was asked about the scrambling abilities of quarterback Bryce Young. “At some point when he takes off, I’m kinda just left watching because I’m like ‘alright, what am I supposed to do, I don’t want to hold the guy.’ Kinda exciting man. He kinda surprised me, I didn’t know he was that shifty, so he kinda surprised me.”

-- Neal also touched on the communication on a talented but rebuilt offensive line. He said that group “definitely came a long way” with room to improve. “So I feel like as the season progresses, we are progressively getting better from a communication standpoint,” Neal said. “I feel like we’re getting better in that area too. We just need to make sure we’re all on the same page.”

So they are getting better Neal tells us.

When a QB scrambles about the only thing an Olineman can do is to try to get in between his man and the QB without using his hands.

Not a knock on you, but not sure Evan would say anything different publicly.

He's definitely been a polarizing coach. The Texan players didn't like him. Even Watt tried to fight him at practice. That's the same Watt who's won Humanitarian awards numerous times.

This is one example:

You only get two options

1-OL coach is Ok but nothing special (for college players)

2-Bama has a Jimmy and Joe problem with their OL roster (exception being #73)

If #2 is the problem, then we'd better revisit how we evaluate high school Oline recruits! Hell, we got 4 and 5* Oline recruits all over the roster...AND how we train them.

Bottom line: Despite our very good roster of OL talent, at mid-season our OL Coach still hasn't delivered a reliable best-five OL group. The weak links are Dalcourt (C) and Owens (RT). Maybe try a couple changes during the bye week:

LT - Neal
LG - Cohen
C- Ekiyor
RG - Brown
RT - Kight
