That is correct. Best in my previous line of work.

I think Homeland Security might carry those too. Can't recall exactly.

Most US government agencies issue the P229 now mostly based on the round usage desired. The P226 MK24 is still used in military to some extent.

I have Ruger LC9s, a Glock 17 Gen 4 that’s my nightstand gun, Smith & Wesson M&P and a .357 model 686 revolver, Bersa Thunder 380, several more, but my EDC is a Taurus GX4. Has 13+1 capacity and easy concealable size. Laugh if you like but Taurus has stepped up their game the last 5-10 years. It’s a fantastic firearm. The Taurus TX22 in .22 LR, which I also own, was Handgun of the Year for Guns & Ammo magazine in 2019. It’s fun to shoot.

I've got pretty close connection to FLETC. So far I think I have only seen is HSI issue the P226, complete with red dot.

Most agencies seem to still be Glock 19 or 17. There are some variations, but it has been a month or two and my mind forgets things.

I have a Staccato CS and P. They're awesome. Not sure what reliability issues your friend has. Basic cleaning and simple maintenance can cure a lot of ills.

Buddy of mine was looking to buy a 2011 CS. His budget was about $2500-$2800.

But I suggested at looking into Springfield Prodigy 4.25”. Put another $1300 in it with comp barrel, ported, tool less guide rod, upgrade the externals etc. altogether about $2700 what he would have in it. Be wicked nasty for the price.

Not knocking the Staccato at all. It’s a fine built handgun, but their damn proud of them.

Cheap - one in each vehicle. I have them mounted close to my left knee. I can shoot either hand, but the left is a little less conspicuous

I have a few friends I served with a couple of different agencies, and they are being issued the P229 but different variations.

My friend in the US Marshalls carries an issued P229 .357 SIG

My friend in DHS carries an issued P229 DAK .40 S&W

Some other guys working under the DOJ are still using the P226 or P228.

The P226 is a great weapon and many foreign organizations I worked with were using the P226 or P228.

But when I served you could carry whatever you could qual with.

It was universally Glock 17 and 19 at my agency but most did 19 because we generally didn’t open carry. Most guys went this way. You could carry whatever as long as you qualified with it. One of RAC’s carried a snub nose .38 some carried SIG. They cracked down shortly before I left on getting too far out in left field with it. Especially on the M4 and .308/7.62 variants. They didn’t like the illusion of agents with tricked out weapons.

True. Those guys have to qual with certain weapons. From there they can carry what they please.

I carried at one time a Glock 21 but overall, I thought the P226 was a better weapon.

Now I got a hold of a Makarov down range one time and love the straight blowback action of that gun, but I would have never been allowed to use while deployed.

I did keep a CZ 75 with my pack as a backup weapon. Another great weapon I was given by someone from another unit we were working with.

Has anyone had the opportunity to use a Chiappa Rhino? I've wanted a chance to fire one forever but it way out of my price range.

I do love this pistol, I have one in my safe. It’s just a cool weapon, shoots well and is sturdy.

I own an XDS Mod 2 - love it. (Both the XDM and XDS are Springfield) great little gun. I have shot thousands of rounds through it with never a misfire. The only reason I don't carry it anymore is that it is heavier than the 43
