The downvotes for Boz in here are really disheartening. I agree Slade isn’t the best player and we probably have better guys on the depth chart, but what Boz has said isn’t wrong. His one drop was a touchdown, but we would be in position for more touchdowns if others guys weren’t dropping them too.

Y’all are looking at the drop without looking at route running, blocking, knowledge of playbook, etc.

I think he is defended because COACH SABAN thinks he is the best choice to start. Do you think Coach Saban starts him because he is WHITE????????

Trust me, if they get their wish and that WR doesn’t play well, they will burn him at the stake as well. It’s our forum cycle.

Slade Bolden is a fine young man. He is a "cagey veteran" and a "coach on the field", who is experienced and "savy", and is "respected in the locker room".

He may be the slowest and shortest receiver, and his hands and ball security may be suspect, but he brings "intangibles" that are hard to duplicate.

Hope that helps.

People commonly seek someone to blame, punish, throw under the bus, etc. "Fire Coach X!" "Bench Player Y!" Though I try avoid doing it, I'm sometimes guilty of it too.

We have a tendency to be knee jerk around here and eat our own. Sort of sad.

Slade made a big play vs Ohio State--sliding TD reception.
It was a huge play after we lost Smith.

For grins and giggles, I looked at the NCAA receiving stats. There’s a lot of folks you haven’t heard of from a lot of mediocre programs. It could be that this cycle of receivers is just not elite countrywide. Maybe Bama has the best of an overall average group. Just a thought.

The recruitment of Slade Bolden is a head scratcher. His biggest offer other UA was Arizona State

Brian Daboll offered him. He was able to lure him away from Arizona by selling him on a role similar to Patriots’ stars, Wes Welker and Julian Edelman. sigh

How about because Coach Saban @ staff feel that he's the right guy for the job at this point? Do y'all really not trust the decisions of coaches who literally live with the players, and know so much more about what's going on than we do?......As for me, I'm deferring to the coaches.

Other than that drop in the end zone, I think Slade has played quite well. As long as that doesn't become a habit, I don't see any reason to bench him.

You've been here a long time. You know full well there are at least a dozen or so posters who are utterly certain that they're smarter than Saban.

Well let’s see, Jalen Hurts, Blake Sims, etc all defended to the death on this forum. So you’re wrong and a troll for saying so.

Uh, all of those guys were attacked far more than Slade and guys are defending Slade no differently.

I'm not bringing race in any of this anyways.

Slade is slower, not that quick and is inconsistent with ball security both catching and retaining possession.

It's not wrong to question his playing.

I will say it...Because he is white. No other reason.

People post crap all the time and then someone can come along and post something that makes crap look like Paris and Art.

I honestly can't believe you said that. Were you not here when Keith Holcombe was playing and getting skewered every week? Hell he hasn't played since 2017 and saw his play criticized YESTERDAY in the Jaylen Moody time thread.

But yeah, Bolden gets defended because he's white.

It's also wrong to act like Slade is some sort of victim and we aren't allowed to be critical of him.

Who told you any of that? Where has he showed any of that? See yall are just making up ways to support him. Show me a play where ha made a "Cagey Veteran" play.

It’s sarcasm. That’s why he’s using the quotation marks. These are all phrases that are used (most commonly by media talking heads) to describe white skill position players to the point where it has become a joke.

And you’re making up ways to bring race into this. Keith Holcomb got shite on hard for his one horrific game of play.
