Praying that this young team is just that. Young. Maybe they needed a team to pop them square in the mouth and remind them if they don’t work their asses off, that they can get beat. Team showed grit. Hoping yesterday was a mental shift for all 3 phases of team.

Florida played very well. This thread isn't giving them any credit.

Yep. Some of the “drops” were highly contested passes

Saban said something similar during the Mercer game. "If they don't wake up and shake themselves, they'll get shook." Well, we got shook by a good Florida team.

Let’s see if there are any changes, otherwise it will be a very long season.

We have had seasons where games come in like this and it puts the team in the fire. Shows these young men if they battle they can accomplish anything. I’m with you and choosing to believe they are maturing. Roll tide sir.

Then there was the pass in the end zone where he didn't get up for the perfectly placed ball ... Because he can't ... she's to short and can't sky.

He's just not physically equiped for the situation.

My mind was so blown by the worst drop I've ever seen by a D1 athlete that I completely forgot about this ^ Great point. In fact this ^ point is an even better illustration of why having bolden out there is such a mystery. He lacks the athleticism to play the position at this level. He needed to jump to catch the perfectly thrown ball, but his poor cleats never even left the grass... I believe his attempt to jump simply led to him falling down.

Nick and staff have to get #10 up to speed on the playbook and soon like this week. He has the speed that is really needed as this point. #8 is Ok but not elite. #1 is ready to trash talk more than he is to actually produce.

Ive been saying this for a while I really think the kid Holden can be a player for us.He has a great size speed ratio, runs the routes. But just need to be left on the field more to play thru the up & downs. If he or hall combined with earl get it going it will allow more plays by Metchie, williams from the slot.

The real problem is getting another outside WR to step up and allow more williams, Metchie from the slot.
Earl is getting more plays but I know his play snaps are set based on what coaches feel they mentally can handle as true freshmen.I am willing to say if another outside wr steps up you will see slade slot plays will decrease. This based on what a metchie, williams can do from the slot.(see Miami game).

Slade isn't the problem on offense.

Chris Owens is the problem. He's fricking terrible. Where is the thread asking why he is starting?

Gentlemen, the entire collection of "problems" on the offense are minuscule. The major issues on this football team, at present, are on the defensive side of the ball.

His sole value was in his blocking and his sure hands. Blocking seems fine, but without the sure hands there are several other players that offer us more.

He's never had "sure hands". This has been brought up before. He had a couple of drops last year and lost 2 fumbles, more than the rest of the WR corps combined. The white stereotype does not fit him: reliable, sure hands, steady, blocks, knows his assignments, etc. He is not reliable and does not have sure hands, IDK about the rest.

Like most of his teammates, he seems like a great kid, but as with all other positions, Saban's requirements for starting and playing are much more than what we as fans see. Coach Saban certainly deserves the benefit of any dobut - but it's tough as fans, when we see things with our own eyes on game day.

I agree with what you say to some degree but Williams actually had a good game and made 2 or 3 important, tough, gritty plays and I don't remember any "selfish" type demonstrations, though I could be wrong. Hopefully, he is maturing, Alabama really needs him, and for his sake because he can play at the next level if he focuses .

The only WR consistently doing anything but you're so worried about him "trash talking" you miss all of that.

Don't even understand the obsession with needing players to not trash talk.

I just don’t get the singling out of him. The whole WR corps has been underwhelming so far this season

This is where I’m at too. Met isn’t getting separation and looks like he is running in quicksand on the underneath stuff as well. I wouldn’t mind seeing Hall. I believe he is the one that had the good spring game. Saban and the coaches watch these guys everyday and knows who to play better than me though.

It’s no different than your need to defend it. Both doesn’t matter

I will say it...Because he is white. No other reason.

Dont understand people talking about Williams. He has some drops sure but he is the only guy who can stretch the defense right.now. Metchie not a number one. He is a good player tho.

Williams and Metchie are a good 1-2.. Earle might be the perfect #3 to compliment them

The recruitment of Slade Bolden is a head scratcher. His biggest offer other UA was Arizona State. I think he's a decent enough athlete but he's playing on too big of a stage for his level of athleticism. Nothing against Slade but who was the coach that convinced Saban to offer him? It's like the "anti Lance Thompson convince Burton Burns Derrick Henry would be a great back at Bama".
You look at the recruiting profile and he's not the typical WR prospect UA would normally go after. What did they see?

There is a reason he sees limited snaps.

Well let’s see, Jalen Hurts, Blake Sims, etc all defended to the death on this forum. So you’re wrong and a troll for saying so.
