Golding wasn’t pushed out to hire an older version of Golding.

Pete Thamel is speculating that Saban could stay in house for his DC hire.
If that happens then Saban has officially given up and may as well go sit on the porch at Lake Burton and watch the ducks shite in the yard.

I’m just reporting something I read. I’m not advocating for the hiring of Grantham.
And I hope you are right, but the delay in the hire makes me wonder what is going on. Hopefully Saban is just waiting to hear what the NCAA says in its response to Tenn.

I'm thinking T Rob before I think of Grantham.

How were T-Rob's defenses at South Carolina?

I’m thinking, when the name is announced, it’s probably going to be what anyone wants to hear.

I think Saban doesnt say a word until all the hires are finalized. That means he wont say anything until BOB gets a job. He just doesnt want to deal any questions until there is nothing to talk about. We have had new hires on campus and working in the past that Saban didnt announce until later.

He also didn't say he thought we'd do that.
He said "if" they go the in house route and then specifically said Grantham.

Yeah, Austin Armstrong has already joined the staff and there hasn't been an official announcement.

I think we’re all just getting antsy because we want to hear something and we aren’t. Nothing has actually happened to indicate it won’t be one of the big names. Everything is just speculation, even things said by people with “ESPN” on their résumé.

In the past didn't Saban do one press conference where he announces all the hires?

Saban has been talking to his good buddy Bill Belichick about the virtues of not having an OC or DC. Expect Coordinator-Less coaching, similar to position-less football next year. Innovation, Saban is always ahead of the game.

I don’t believe there is ever an official announcement on hires until the board meets to discuss the contracts.

God forbid if we have more than two threads per day on this forum.
You can start as many as you'd like, but for now the hand wringing over our DC is relegated to this thread and that's fine with Boz and me.

The problem is there are no more excuses for people to give on why the hires haven't been made. Golding is already gone. The bowl games are over. Early signing day is over. We supposedly aren't going the NFL route again, so, we aren't waiting on the NFL playoffs to end.
If we can't make a good hire and end up going in house or a washed up coach, there's a reason why. Hopefully, it doesn't end up that way.

Oh for Christ sakes. Y’all bitch that Golding won’t be gone. And then bitch when a replacement isn’t named within days. 16 years of Saban making yearly coaching hires and some of y’all still don’t get it.

If you didn't like Golding, you're going to hate Grantham. I highly doubt Saban would hire him as DC though.

Could be waiting for an NCAA ruling on Pruitt. Could be trying to find a way to get two guys, though I think this is unlikely. If Schumann has an offer, maybe he’s mulling it over.
Plenty of possibilities. Seems fairly obvious to me we’ll end up with one of the guys we want though, at this stage.

Get out her Dawg fan! We love emotional undisguised double A gap blitzs. No one will be unsatisfied with Grantham and his track record. UGA is nothing but a front for a moderately priced strip club in Athens.
