Have we seen a direct quote from Sayin or his family. Or is this just speculation?

Agreed, Sayin was a sure thing. Mack is a project at best.

I haven't seen a single frame of Mack's frame, but what makes you say this?

Sayin is also 6'1. Mack is 6'6. DeBoer has also already reached out to 2025 Tennessee QB commit George MacIntyre who is 6'5.5. He seems to like the taller QBs so maybe Sayin is just not a good fit for what DeBoer wants to do.

I think it's less that he likes taller QBs and more that tall QBs tend to have big arms, which is what he actually does like. Seems like a ton of people are so deep in their feelings over Saban retiring that they haven't bothered to really look into our new coach and how he likes his teams to play. We're going to push the ball down the field. Then we're going to do it again. And again. And again. Maybe Sayin would have done fine in that kind of system or maybe not. I think if he was encouraged to look elsewhere that was a mistake, but if you consider what DeBoer likes to do and compare it to Mack's skill set it's not surprising that he's enamored with the kid.

Rumors Sayin to USC or OSU. I would not be surprised to see him go plat for Riley at USC.

On3 didn’t even exist when Tua was around

Tua was a borderline 5*, he was right on the edge of it on the composite. I believe he was the last guy

He was also a dual threat, which is funny in hindsight

Fair. That’s what I remembered but when I googled it he was a 5 star on Rivals and On3. Didn’t realize On3 wasn’t around. I thought they took over for Scout.

Nope. None. No speculation, hypotheticals, hindsight, or What-Ifs on this board regarding the portal. No sir-ee

People forget he had a great relationship with BoB.

I think Mack could end up being really, really good. Better than Sayin perhaps. Who knows? Well, KDB would know better than us as he coached him last year.

Mack was the 8th ranked QB in last year's class despite reclassifying. He may have been a top 3 guy if he were coming out this year. Hell, he may be ranked ahead of Sayin if he didn't skip his senior year. He didn't really play except for his junior year and he had 40 TDs and 5 INTs. If KDB sees that and think he's worth a scholarship and maybe kicking Sayin out, I guess I have no choice but to hope it works out.

Hell, he may have a decent chance of starting over Milroe. He's got a year in the system already. Might see Simpson transfer in the spring if he looks to be 3rd string.

BoB has made a career off of talented QBs making him look good. smh. Wish I could fail upwards like that.
