The "MF" Goat...

Nobody will never accomplish what he accomplished probably in our lifetime.

Congratulations Nick Saban!

It seems like weird timing. He had just hired that coach that was formerly from Michigan. He hadn’t really given any indication that it was about to happen.

He was apparently at team meetings look at new coaching hires for the other positions. So it does seem very sudden.

But there’s also rumors going around about it being related to health issues in his family (not him)

Been one hell of a run. I was born in 1990 so grew up with nothing but mostly shite teams. Then saw three championships as a student. Great times. Thanks for everything you’ve done for my university Saban. The GOAT

Somebody on another site is saying Ms Terry is sick and that drove this decision. Any truth to that?

I really hope that’s not true.

I hope not. I also have a hard time seeing Ms. Terry wanting him to retire over her health, knowing her personality. You know how she is! But absolutely respectable decision to step down in that case, don’t get me wrong.

I’m happy for Coach Saban. He has worked hard. Everything he did, he did with class. Thank you for everything Coach Saban! Go and enjoy your family.

The thing that really set this home was Roll Tide Willie's video of finding out Saban retired.

Dude is distraught.

Stat of the day: Under Nick Saban, Alabama had more players drafted in the first-round (44) than it had losses (29).

I keep seeing it mentioned, but I wonder if people might just be misinterpreting a tweet by Arnold about it being time for Saban to take care of himself and "most importantly" Miss Terry. Maybe Terrion knows something, but, he's also maybe just referencing his friendship with Miss Terry.

I sincerely hope it's just Saban retiring when he's ready, and still a legend.

I had heard that rumor from some family friends that are long time boosters as far back as September.

I’d also heard from a woman who was close with and worked with Miss Terry that “the end might be sooner than you think” shortly after in October. No mentions of health issues but retirement was pretty heavily pushed

It’s been out there, in multiple circles, for a while

One reporter interviewed Kristen Saban and she said something along the lines of “we knew it was going to happen but didn’t think it would be today”. So I don’t think the family was blindsided

I hope we get a clearer picture at some point of how things truly played out. Was it a sudden decision for it to happen yesterday? From what info is out there, things were business as usual in the football building until they suddenly weren’t. Which just seems weird. Supposedly Saban was interviewing candidates for WR coach in the morning, and then announcing his retirement in the afternoon. That seems very weird. I understand that he was going to do his job until the end, but what would be the point of interviewing candidates for WR coach if you know you’re not going to be the head coach 24 hours later?
