I always assumed he'd get to 300 wins, just because of how close he is and how rare it is to achieve it. But at the same time, if CFB is becoming exhausting to fans, you know it's a thousand times worse on the coaches. I wouldn't put up with this shite either tbh

I am shocked. I knew the day would come but figured he’d go out on top.

This doesn’t make a lot of sense. Why would Ty Simpson decide to come back if Saban is leaving?

Poor Oregon can’t keep a coach to save their lives

I agree, the timing is definitely odd.

1.) frick.

2.) Nobody's earned their retirement like Saban. I hate the era is over, but goddamn was it fun to watch.

Thanks for everything, coach! Glad I got to live through what my uncles bragged about for decades.

Wow. Surprised but not surprised. I’m just so thankful for all the amazing memories and titles. Probably the greatest run in the history of college football.

LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!

There has to be more to the story. I hope it’s not the health rumors people were talking about.

Wow. Well he'd be 73 mid-season next year. Bellichick out, Carroll out, Saban out. Truly the end of an era.

Thank you, Coach Saban! Wow what a run it was. Absolutely incredible. The GOAT.

I’m very shocked, tbh. And not that it means anything, but even Kristen (Saban’s daughter)’s posts on Instagram really make it seem even more surprising now, cause she was just posting about players coming back for another season yesterday, just feels so sudden, and the past week all about next season to look forward to, etc. But there’s no way this was a light decision.

Lanning! What a horrible nire that would be. Dude couldn't beat Washington in two tries and has had nix the whole time. Can't tell yet if he can coach.
