quote:So they put Williams in charge and fired most ALL the assistant coaches. Williams has never been nothing but a RB coach with no head coaching experience. That cult is in serious damage control....Now they are saying they fired Harsin because he didn't take the vacc.
Cadillac Williams has been named the interim coach.

Will be fun to see how their season ends. Will their players totally quit or play hard for Cadillac? They have MSU, A&M and Bama left. Western Kentucky is not a gimme either. Don't laugh.

Rhule would be the smart hire which means Auburn won’t look at him.

Mullens is getting 1 million a year from UF not to coach plus whatever his espn pay is thru 2027.
I doubt he'd take a low ball offer to take on the booster headaches of Au alone, plus a major rebuild effort

I'm going to laugh at the Auburn posters who will post how they are too good for the likes of Rhule, Matt Campbell, etc. Then they'll hire some OC from NC State, Indiana or the like and tell us it's a home run hire.

Obviously the situation with booster meddling seems the worst at Auburn that it's probably ever been anywhere. And if you look historically, they are the quickest to fire coaches of any school in college football. But the other thing that makes it particularly rough right now is that you have both Alabama and Georgia at a consistently elite level. That doesn't leave Auburn with much of a recruiting imprint. Their only saving grace might be the portal, as has been the case with Tennessee. Regardless, I don't know how many coaches will be interested.

I have a feeling they are going to get Freeze. I do not want him at Auburn.

How can Sankey allow Freeze to come back as a head coach, when he’s denied him multiple times as an assistant or even an analyst?

i...eh...oooh... from the end of the stallings era to the end of the shula era, bama was pretty shaky at best. even in the good years sprinkled in, it was a toss up on gameday. i'm just hoping we dont go back there after cns retires.
freeze is the one i'd hate to see go to the barn. i know he just signed an extension with liberty, but those things always have an out.

Meh even guys like Josh Heupel are giving Alabama problems these days. We got bigger problems than a Hugh Freeze offense.

Does the Commish have to approve of Freeze due to the way things went down with OM

Don't those payouts require he coaches to make a good faith effort to look for another job? Mullins is just getting his name out there. he has no serious interest and Auburn would never hire him.

I think Georgia's success has really fricked with their heads. They are used to having to take it from Bama. They hate it but generally accept it. But Kirby having them at an elite level and being a relatively young coach has them frenzied. Taking shite from Bama is one thing but Georgia too is a bridge too far.

I believe most of that language revolves around coaching or staff positions. If he takes one, it has to be a competitive salary for the position. And, that salary comes off of the payout amount.
It's why there are so many on the cheap former HC analysts on staffs.
He doesn't have to look for another coaching or staff position to retain his buyout pay.
He just can't agree to work on staff at Bama for $1 a week.
But, I could very well be wrong or remembering incorrectly what was explained to me.
