How beautiful would this look streaming across ESPN one evening...

BREAKING NEWS: According to sources from ESPNinsider Jay Bilas, Rick Pitino has signed a 6-Year deal to become the Head Coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

I was wrong, Avery won’t get the job done. I’d rather not waste 3-4 more seasons grabbing some hot DII Coach, Prohm, Musselman, etc.

If you want to be great, swing for the fences. I don’t give a flying phukkk what Rick Pitino did, hire that man, and let’s make a splash. Having a big name/good coach/good team would be great timing for the program when we open the new Coleman.

We’ve sucked for 25 years now, enough is enough. Lets re-tweet/tweet any Pitino to Bama stuff you see and tag Byrne, let him know we want Pitino.

Swing for the fences, or we’ll be in this same situation 4 years from now with the new coach.

This program needs a jolt of electricity, Rick Pitino to Alabama.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
Wimp was the last real coach we've had.

This. Pitino would be crazy at this time b/c of the NCAA stuff and his age. Billy D come in and help Bama be what Florida once was.

What kind of connections does Byrne have?
I'd hope some, but he's not older, like Mal was when he got Saban.
Greg may not have the experience or enough clout to bring in a high level coach we'd like.
Maybe I'm wrong

Billy Donovan is continuing to succeed in the NBA, why would he come here? And for the Pitino fanboys, that'll never happen. Get real. Alabama is never going to hire a basketball coach with NCAA baggage.

Some need to temper their expectations of potential hires . We can get a nice coach and can WANT an elite coach but the reality is we will not get a BD, RP type of coach

We weren't that good either year. Hell, we barely made the tournament both seasons.

The Thunder are 3rd in the West right now, and he has an MVP candidate in Paul George. He’s not coming here..

Pitino with a new arena would be the ultimate scenario. Instead we are going to get a nobody coach and some fresh paint on coleman mausoleum.

They are totally gutting the inside of Coleman, and fixing the 3 main problems. (Seats 10 miles from the court being closer, the paint/lights will make every game not seem like a funeral, it’s so dark in there, and less seats will make it appear sold out every game).

The pics of the new arena were beautiful

Exactly. Saban has trouble hiring Bo back, and ultimately went with Baker. So, I doubt that the trustees are going to get behind Pitino. He is going to have the NCAA up his behind for a very long time where ever he lands. Prefer that it not be at Alabama.

Which means he isn't going to be able to sign anyone worth a damn or he will slip up and get us buried in sanctions.

Byrne is more competent as an AD than Mal or Battle ever we’re at any point. Those guys were figureheads.
