The other one that comes to mind is that third down run against Clemson with two minutes left. Almost gets sacked and turns it into a first down to ice it with a Henry TD

Should be 2:28:10

Career Stats
Pennington: 974 yards 4 tds 8 ints vs
Milroe: 5,568 yards 44tds 18ints
Tough decision, but the SEC Championship probably gives Milroe the edge for me. But we’re splitting hairs

AJ although considered a game manager at Alabama has to be top of
List. He won two NC at Alabama and played brilliantly in both games.

Lot of yall are sleeping on how good sims was in his year. I’d put Mac at the top in his lone season.

I always trusted Mac with the ball in his hands that season

I agree with you on both of your observations. My rankings were more career based. I probably should’ve had Sims a little higher. As far as Mac, he definitely had the single best season of any Bama quarterback, but when Tua was healthy, I’ve never seen anyone better. He had such a quick release and super accurate. I have no problem with either being number one though. Both were great

I don't remember pre-Saban well enough, but I'll rank the rest (based on college play only - not NFL):

1. Mac Jones
2. AJ McCarron
3. Tua Tagovailoa
4. Bryce Young
5. Jake Coker
6. Greg McElroy
7. Jalen Hurts
8. John Parker Wilson
9. Blake Sims
10. Jalen Milroe

My metric: if I just take average Bama team of this timeframe and need a QB to win one game

1) AJ
2) Tua
3) BY
4a) Mac
4b) Hurts
6) Brodie Croyle
7) JPW
8) Watts
9) GMAC
10) Zow
11) Coker
12) Sims
13) Milroe
14) Pennington

The top 5 are just exceptional IMO. If we are taking the best of Hurts and not factoring in the funk he went through, he might be #2

Do you not see Brodie on the list? Probably the best person on there

I don’t know anything about Brodie off the field. I know his is a great guy but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is.

Many of you are sleeping on JPW. If we had a RSJR JPW this season, we would be 11-1.

You mean the human turnover machine known as JPW?

The dude threw 30 interceptions, lost numerous fumbles and had a completion percentage in the 50s.

Yeah, he was awful. He wasn't even a game manager, Alabama had to win in spite of him.

His RSJR year, he threw 12 interceptions vs 18 touchdowns.

Who was his OC? Was the talent level in 2007 even close to what we currently have? Are the systems the same? It’s not an apples to apples comparison.

Jalen Hurts might not be high on my list but he’s the only one I would ok with my son looking up to.
Tua

What a dumbass thing to say. There are a lot of good dudes on that list.

Tua is a really good dude. Loves his family, loves Jesus. Never been in trouble.

Bryce is nice and never been in trouble. A tiny guy who maximized his potential. You wouldnt want your kid to be like that?

AJ McCarron has a bad tatoo and that's it. Two time national champ that married a model and had a successful career as a backup QB. Yeah his parents must be so embarassed.

Mac Jones, another overachiever. National champion. Never been in trouble.

Do you know anything about the Croyles?

Greg McElroy could have just been a spoiled rich kid. But he worked his arse off and even made it to the NFL. Then he started a whole new career and is doing pretty good for himself.

You would be extremely fortunate to have your son turn out like any of the guys on that list. To say you would only be ok with your son looking up to Jalen is just bizarre and ignorant. None of our guys are Johnny Manziel.

What does the talent level and OC have to do with a QB throwing the ball to the other team or fumbling?

Jim McElwain was his OC in 2008 when we threw 10 tds and 8 ints.

Under that same OC, McElroy threw 9 ints in 09 and 10 seasons.

JPW was a turnover machine and cost Alabama a lot of games because of it. He is probably the worst starting QB that started multiple games under Saban.

I didn’t say any of them are bad guys. I don’t want my son looking up to someone because they’re good at a sport.

I get that and agree. But the above poster is correct, they’re all pretty good dudes. Even though milroe catches hate, he’s not a bad guy either, just a product of the current climate of football. Brodie and his family are legit amazing people.

Ok so then why is Hurts the only one you would ok with your son looking up to?

If your kid was like dad i really want to be like Tua, he is my favorite player; you wont be ok with that. Why?
