Ban bet?
I’ll do one just because I am unlucky and will lose, but we will get Pruitt.

a prior post said the NCAA is not through with things. He could still get one.

I saw that, too. And I'm not opposed to it.

Pruitt is going to bring some fire to this defense if it’s him. My favorite memory of him is the Ole Miss game at their stadium and we shanked a punt, he ran on the field to pump the defense up and those guys fed off that emotion. That may seem minor but that always stuck with me and those players would run thru a wall for him

Tim Watts just posted that Alabama has not contacted Strong as of last night.

Can anyone highlight Pruitt’s strengths and philosophy that makes him the best candidate
He played HS ball for his father (who was a very good coach). He has lived and breathed football his entire life.
He played DB (safety) at Alabama under Bill Oliver. He was far from the most gifted Db and his playing time was limited as a DB. However, he understood Brother Oliver's defense better than anyone else on the team. Brother would teach the game plan to Pruitt then use Pruitt to help him teach it to the rest of the guys. He was one of Brother Oliver's favorite players.
He was a safeties coach at Alabama before becoming the DC and LB coach. He became a very good LB coach but was always a better BD coach. He knows when the BD's are ready to allow him to get agressive up front with blitz packages. He knows Saban's defense better than anyone except Kirby but is very close to Kirby in understanding. He has proven to be better than Kirby at simplifing the Saban defense for young players and has proven to be better than Kirby at ramping up the agression of the defensive attack.
He stepped out from under Saban to be the DC at FL State for one year and produced a fantastic defense that won the Natty in his first year. He then became the DC at UGA and started the transformation of their defenseto what it is today. He laid the ground work in the system and recruiting that allowed Kirby to do so well their as quickly as he did.
When Kirby left to go to UGA, Pruitt came back to Bama as the DC. His defense was simplified from what Kirby/Saban did and was also much more aggressive.
Pruitt makes the Saban defense more adaptive and more vicious. Pruitt has some personal short comings that Saban has been the only coach in his entire careers who had his respect enough to keep those issues in check. The only other college level coach that had Pruitt's respect to that degree was Brother Oliver.
I have known Pruitt since he was 12 or 13 years old. While I am not a fan of him as a person, he is a fantastic coach and recruiter. His player evaluation/recruiting skill is on Saban/Kirby level. His management skill beyond DC sucks largely because of his personal short comings. He will likely never be a really good head coach at the college level.

He was fired for Show Cause by UT and was specifically mentioned in the NOA so I would be shocked if he did not get one. BP had one and his issues were not nearly as bad as JP's was.

It’s him or Schumann. Trying to get Pruitt through compliance. We shall see.

I would be delighted with both Schumann or Pruitt.
Someone somewhere on this board said recently that he'd heard that Pruitt had ballooned to 150 lbs or something. I don't really care, I want him on staff, either on-field or off.
However, in this clip from a couple of days ago Pruitt looks plenty fine to me and is saying all he needs to say: he's an Alabama guy.

I would be good with either one, and I think most Bana fans would as well (at least I'd hope they would).
ETA: Oh, and you can't convince me that Strong is a serious candidate for DC at Bama. Whichever twitter blue checker posted that has to be fos.

I get the feeling Pruitt wants to be back at Alabama and would jump at the opportunity, and would probably stay for a while if he were to become Bama’s DC again.
