I think we know how amazing this dynasty is, but when you look at the numbers, it's ridiculous. I'm using 2008-2020 as my numbers; although, I understand if some consider 2009 the actual start of The Dynasty. Anyways, here's what I got:

163-17 Overall Record
Obviously, this is sick. 90.6% win record over a span of 13 years.

104-12 vs SEC opponents
Includes all post-season games like SECCG, BCS & CFP match-ups. Only Auburn (4), LSU (3) and Ole Miss (2) have managed to beat us more than once. Florida, South Carolina & Texas A&M have one win each (and a combined 16 losses) vs Alabama.

54-9
Alabama's record vs the Big Six of Auburn (9-4), Florida (7-1), Georgia (6-0), LSU (11-3), Tennessee (13-0) and Texas A&M (8-1). Seven of those nine losses were by a single score (Auburn won by 12 in 2017 and Florida won by 11 in 2008, all other games were decided by 1, 3, 3, 3, 5, 5 and 6) .

59-5 vs Out-of-Conference opponents
This is one that blows my mind. Bama's lost just 5 OOC games in 13 years. What's more amazing is 4 of those teams either finished the season undefeated or won the national championship. 2008 Utah finished #2 with a 13-0 record. 2014 Ohio State finished #1 with a 14-1 record. 2016 Clemson finished #1 with a 14-1 record. 2018 Clemson finished #1 with a 15-0 record. Only 2013 Oklahoma is the lone outlier and they finished 11-2 and #6.

85-8 Record as #1-ranked team
Pretty amazing considering the target on the back.

12 of 13
...years Alabama has either won the national championship or suffered a loss to the eventual national champion during this period. The lone exception once again came in 2013. Auburn played in the BCSNCG, but lost in the final seconds to Florida State.

7
Number of times Alabama handed an opponent its only loss of the season. 2009 Florida & Texas, 2011 LSU, 2012 Notre Dame, 2015 Clemson, 2020 Texas A&M & Ohio State.

8
Number of times Alabama finished the season with 1 loss or fewer. 2009, 2011-12, 2015-2018 & 2020.

171
...out of 180 games Alabama has played in which it was ranked in the AP Top 10.

160
...out of 180 games Alabama has played in which it was ranked in the AP Top 5.

19-1
Alabama's record when the AP ranked the Tide #6 or worse in its poll. The lone loss was #11 Alabama losing to #2 Auburn 27-28 on November 26, 2010. Safe to say, when the AP starts doubting, Bama rebounds.

1-3
Alabama's Sugar Bowl record during this stretch. The Tide is 12-2 in all other post-season/bowl games.

Lost, Won, Won, Won, Lost, Won, Won, Won, Lost, Won, Won, Won...
Alabama's current rhythmic bowl/playoff performance. Uh oh.

7 out of 13
...years Alabama either had the Heisman Trophy winner on its team or played against him. (Ingram, Newton, Manziel, Henry, Murray, Burrow, Smith)

41-1
Alabama's record when they have the Heisman Trophy winner on its team (14-0 in '09 w/ Ingram; 14-1 in '15 w/ Henry; 13-0 in '20 w/ Smith). The lone loss was the 5-turnover debacle against Ole Miss when we lost by six points.

3.67
The average margin of defeat by Bama to a team showcasing a Heisman Trophy winner. We lost by 1 to Cam and by 5 each to Manziel & Burrow. We're 1-3 overall against Heisman winners (beat Murray in 2018). Yeah, all those players had amazing games against us, but we hung in there and had a shot.

6,898 to 2,592
Alabama's cumulative score against everyone in all 180 games played from 2008 to 2020.

27.3
Alabama's average margin of victory in all 163 wins from 2008 to 2020. When we win, we basically win by 4 touchdowns.

8.3
Alabama's narrow margin of defeat in its 17 losses from 2008 to 2020. When we lose, typically its one play that makes the difference.

49
Individual Awards won by Alabama players. Won't list them all, but among them are 5 Outland Trophy winners, 4 Maxwell winners, 3 Walter Camps, 3 Rimington Trophies, 3 Doak Walkers, 3 Biletnikoffs, 3 Butkus Awards, and, of course, 3 Heisman Memorial winners.

84-50
One of my favorite stats because it shuts up the rest of the country. This is the Southeastern Conference's bowl/post-season record during Alabama's dynasty; a .627 win percentage. Even if you took out Bama's 13-5 record, the SEC at 71-45 would still be far superior to any other conference. The other conferences:

Big 12....48-44 .522
PAC-12...40-48 .455
Big 10....49-59 .454
ACC......53-69 .434

Further, the SEC has 84 wins, but just 68 teams ranked in the AP Top 25 from '08-'20. Some of the disparity is due to multiple games played by one team as a result of the playoff; but it also suggests that SEC teams are under-valued. The ACC fits this bill, too, with 53 wins and only 42 ranked teams. However, the PAC-12 (40 wins & 41 ranked teams) and the Big 12 (48 wins & 46 ranked teams) are about neutral to expectations. The Big 10 has under-performed by winning just 49 games but having 55 ranked teams at the end of the season. The SEC would have to lose its next 9 post-season games and the Big 10 would have to win 35 straight to even it up.

The SEC is 26-13 vs the Big 10, 18-9 vs the Big 12 & 2-0 vs the Pac-12 in post-season games from 2008 to 2020. Since we don't match up with the PAC-12 in the post-season often, the SEC's overall record including regular season games against the PAC-12 is 14-7. Only the ACC has managed to stay respectable as the SEC has only a 21-16 record against them.

Alright, enough fapping.

Since 2008, we’ve only played in something like 6 games that didn’t have National Title implications for us and 3 of those came in 2010.

Wasn't the 11 pt loss to FL in the 2008 Seccg? Not 09?

The consecutive wins vs unraked teams is the stat that defines what Saban and his program are all about, IMHO

Alabama's current rhythmic bowl performance. Uh oh

Not understanding this. Going back to the 08 season Bama has done the following in bowl games.

08-20
Lost, won, won, won, won, lost, lost, won, won, won, won, won, won.

The BCS Championship Game was officially a bowl game. The College Football Playoff National Championship Game isn't a bowl game.

Bama has officially won six straight bowl games.

We opened as underdogs but I believe the game kicked off at Alabama -1 in most betting markets.

6 National Championships. That's the best I've got.

Also, this thread is great. Loved reading through The Quiet One's stats. Tons of great info in there.

SOG - you referenced the wins against unranked. I like that stat, too, but can't recall how many consecutive it is. Do you know?

One other stat - based on the OP, Bama is 85-8 when ranked #1 (93 games). The overall record during this stretch is 163-17 (180 games). This 93/180 ratio means over the past 13 years Bama has played more games ranked #1 than the rest of college football combined.

Corrected 09 to 08 re: Florida loss.

Revised bowls to bowl/playoffs. Never cared whether NCGs were “officially” bowls, but may as well be technically accurate.

I wanted to list all americans. Probably do that later.

I think Alabama’s unranked win streak is at 98.

If you have beaten Alabama since 2008, there is a 47% chance that you played in the National Championship the year that you beat them

Alabama’s lost 17 games dating back to 2008. Alabama’s had 33 NFL 1st round draft picks.

Ridiculous

BAMA made it from 2004 to 2018 between losses of more than two scores.

Lost by 17 to Arky and South Carolina, and 16 to LSU in 04.

Lost the championship game to Clemson in 2018 by 28.

All Americans....

Since 1892, Alabama has had 140 players honored a total of 164 times as first team All-American. Included in these selections are 80 consensus selections, 40 unanimous selections.

Before Coach Saban, Bama had 39 consensus AA's with 16 unanimous (112 years). Since Coach Saban's 2008, (13 years) Bama has had 41 consensus AA's with 24 unanimous.

In 2009, Alabama set both a school and national record for AP All-Americans with six first team selections. The 2020 team tied this record.

In 2020, Alabama had six players earn first-team All-America honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the most in the history of Walter Camp voting.

In 2020, Bama's roster features 7 first team All-Americans to tie the 2011 roster for the most first-teamers in a single season in program history. The five unanimous selections are the most in program history, surpassing the previous high of three by the 2016 squad. That total also matches the NCAA single-season mark by one team, tying the 2003 Oklahoma roster.

quote:

since 2008, Saban's second season, the Crimson Tide had fielded 41 consensus All-American selections earned by 36 players.

That's more than any coach in history.

The previous leaders were Joe Paterno (33), Bobby Bowden (31) and Tom Osborne (30).

Also, Alabama is the first team since 1980, when the AP All-America team began featuring two wide receivers and two running backs, to place a quarterback, running back and receiver on the first team. LINK
