According to the academic calendar, "Spring 2" starts on 2/9. So I assume guys need to be signed and enrolled by then in order to participate in Spring practice?
I meant I think the staff may be focusing on just getting our current roster secured and waiting to sign after Friday new guys because if we sign someone now a current player could possibly hit the portal before Friday.

He was at Utah before transferring to Alabama. Michigan-Utah-Alabama-Ohio State. Insane.

Welcome to Texas, sir.

Michigan has offered Delgatty, and Cal Poly played Utah this season. Whittingham is a fantastic coach and saw this guy up close as an opponent, so that's proof enough that he'd be a good pickup.

Moore decided to come back to Oregon. Simpson might end up being the best QB in the draft
Definitely helps Ty, but I was pretty shocked to see Moore returning.
Pretty much everyone had him as the #2 QB going #2 overall.
That's a $50 million GUARANTEED contract with over $30 million signing bonus. Even if he slid a couple spots...what in the freakin world is Oregon giving him to return??? Seems like a truly terrible decision...plus the 27 QB class is going to be deeper.

I think on the OL id rather get guys coming from the smaller schools that have played well as opposed to guys coming from big schools that havent played.
Haywood is a different story because he is still a young player. Players leaving big programs because of a coaching change is always a good opportunity to find some studs.

Definitely makes no sense. Seems unlikely his stock can get higher than that.

Are we thinking some of our "transfer out" guys who haven't signed anywhere will stick around, or do we think we told those fellas to leave?

At this point, it wouldn't matter

Just looking at the roster numbers wise interior OL seems to be our greatest need.

Roq Montgomery staying wouldn't help bolster the OL?

I don't see him coming back.

My understanding is he didn’t want to go to the Jets. Based the whole decision on who had the 2nd pick in the draft and he didn’t want to play there. So he’s going back to Nike U. I’m certain he has a nice paycheck waiting for him. It won’t be $50 mil guaranteed but he’s not going to go hungry either.

It’s not genius, it’s laziness, it’s admitting your competition is superior. It makes you vulnerable to your competition.
Many programs did this throughout the Saban tenure but no one credited the parasites with genius - they were viewed as dependent, they were often laughed at.
Of course, if the MSM ever comments on the practice they will characterize Alabama as the hapless, pitiable losers and the parasites as clever operatives, outfoxing their moronic adversaries.

You are right up to a point, but Alabama does not over pay for production that somewhat equals that of the less expensive, in many cases much less expensive, replacement.
So, you pay according to your assessment, thus saving money to acquire other pieces or more expensive pieces elsewhere. I’ve been very impressed with Alabama/Morgan’s discipline. It ‘s the only way for Alabama to remain competitive in the currently configured world.
Those criticizing Morgan and ultimately DeBoer, IMO, have no clue. No doubt they make mistakes in this complex and high-stakes world but to insinuate that they don’t know what they’re doing is naivety at best. Some think they are lazy which is laughable. IMO, they are ahead of the game even having access to only 40 of the 52 cards. IMO, Alabama is fortunate to have them both.
We’ll see how the entire program design and implementation works out but talent acquisition with good but limited resources compared to a few others, seems to be working well with the focus on recruiting, development, and retention. The development part, because of ignorance on my part, I’m not as certain about.
