Well the clear difference is that he will be earning millions of dollars. I mean I don’t care either way but it’s a much different scenario now than it was 5 or 6 years ago.

Maybe not a good fit for our rushing scheme, but he seems like an excellent pass blocker.

I have a feeling we may not see many more additions until after Friday when the portal closes. Secure everyone we have on the roster first, let the portal close, and grab what you need after that.

According to the academic calendar, "Spring 2" starts on 2/9. So I assume guys need to be signed and enrolled by then in order to participate in Spring practice?

Racin Delgatty will be on campus tomorrow
We also seem to be interested in the Texas guy, Nick Brooks, but he's 6'7'' 349lbs so no idea how that would fit our scheme.

Are we actually going to get anyone from the portal? Seems like we’ve only gotten a couple of guys.

We've signed 12 guys so far, there are thousands of players still in the portal, and we're still recruiting a bunch. So yeah, I think it's safe to assume we'll be signing more.

Literally over 6,000 sitting in the portal that haven’t found a home. We might pick up 1 or 2.

I think it was Keeley to whom Ha Ha was referring when he said, “ I said look at the tape, not 3 plays.” He was responding to the outcry after Keely and Smith, maybe more had just entered the portal. He also said, “what have we lost?” He said during that time, “we’re paying for production, not potential”.
I’ll just add that fans usually think of star ratings when thinking of a player recruited by the school. Anyone, even skeptics like me, would rather have a gang of 5 stars vs a gang of 3 stars, but on an individual's basis they don’t mean much. After they’ve been in the program for 2 years stars mean nothing, only production.
I was thrilled with the signing of Smith, certain that this quick-twitch, large man would be a star. IMO, this consensus 5 star has produced at a low 4 star level. Solid but that is it. Maybe he will still break out in his 4th year, but that would be a mild surprise at this point. This is what Ha Ha was talking about when he said they are paying for “production not potential” and “ and ”what are we losing?”, 3 1/2 sacks in 2 years, 6 tfl. Not from a NT but a DL.

I get what HaHa was saying but it only matters if we sign someone with more production. Keeley wasn't a starter so his production wasn't great, but if you look at impactful plays relative to snaps at the end of the season he was playing well.
I get HaHa's perspective but it's not like we sign a bunch of productive players or really any productive players for that matter. The most productive guy is the DL whose numbers look almost identical to Smitih's numbers except he played worse competition
