Cecil Hurt tweeted he’s hearing Bama and Avery have come to terms on a buyout agreement!

Alabama probably won't either. Hiring him you're pretty much inviting the NCAA to set up camp a satellite camp at our university.

Explain why Alabama's basketball program getting put on probation would be any worse that what it has been for the last ten years.

How would it look for Kentucky football to offer their head job to Urban Meyer? Some of you guys are setting yourself up for major disappointment.

To compare the Kentucky football program to Alabama basketball historically is beyond stupidity.

Some of us here have actually watched an Alabama basketball program which was perennially in the SEC championship game more often than Kentucky.

I dunno. Pitino would make sense. No major school is going to touch him. Bama has a decent basketball history. Pitino has the clout to get the upgrades we need. He can recruit and get Bama winning. He could rebuild his legacy here and win a lot of games. There is not a whole lot of down side for him in taking the job.

I gotta come clean, because I was anti Pitino just yesterday, maybe even today (can’t remember) even posted my sentiments on this forum. But the more I’ve thought about it, and watched Pearl take Auburn to where they are with all his NCAA baggage, wth not. Let’s do it.

Eh, frick Pearl and frick Auburn.

Because it's not the direction you want to be going and it's just digging ourselves into a hole further.

The years in football before Saban should have taught us this lesson. Tell me what good probation and shite did for us then - not a damn bit of it.

I mean what the frick are you looking for exactly? An Ole Miss/Freeze type run where in the end you basically have nothing to show for it and what victories you did manage don't really mean shite?

Pitino has "vacate a national championship" NCAA baggage and that was BEFORE Pitino got caught up in the shoe scandal

Not many can coach basketball like Pitino but no one can scandal like Pitino

So frign what if he started his own thread. Yes, he has a point about Pitino that would likely have just gotten lost in the shuffle of the other threads. I often overlook the long drug out threads that bounce around for days but don't hit the points of a new thread.

Don't you know football is the only sport that is supposed to dominate this board?

This is embarrassing. Hopefully Byrne isn't as embarrassing.

He's 66 years old too. We'd be getting a steaming pile of shite for--three years maybe?

Bruce Pearle's infractions don't compare to Pitino's.

Stick and Anchor, can you change the name to official coaching search. I have no idea where the other thread went.

Looks like you accidently deleted it:

Official Basketball Coaching Search Thread.

ETA: The stickied baseball thread is gone too. You gonna delete the recruiting thread next?

Are you asking why it would be worse to be automatically disqualified from the tournament, pay fines, lose scholarships, and tarnish your reputation instead of hiring a quality coach the likes of Prohm, Kermit Davis, McMahon, etc?

Pelphrey is the interim coach. Pitino coached Pelphrey at Kentucky.

I get your point, but there was already a short active Rick Pitino thread on the first page.
