See, talking about disqualifications and bs like that tells me you're stuck in the old era of Bama athletics. In this new era, we won't listen to that. If the ncaa tells us we're disqualified, WE WILL GO ANYWAY AND THEY WILL LIKE IT.

We can always lawyer up and cheat like UGA is doing in football. College sports has gotten out of hand and the NCAA has no chance in hell of stopping it now. Only reason any of the college basketball stuff came out was because of the FBI.. and tax fraud. NCAA couldn’t do shite and never will again. Ole miss got 1 year probation for hookers, cash, and other crap. They might can get a small school who doesn’t have the money or agree to less punishment.. but they can’t touch the big boys now. NCAA is in over their heads and teams know it now. What’s old school is still being scared of them.. they have no power and attorneys will eat their lunch any day. I see it every day as a coach.. these kids are getting paid and it’s being funneled through the family’s. Bama is actually safer than most and backs off during a bidding war.. look at Dean for example. Ole miss and UGA went all in.. it won’t stop and the NCAA damn sure can’t stop it. So buckle up and welcome to the era of big business sports. These schools and the NCAA are making Billions.. they won’t touch that.

In short!! Hire who ever will make us win and bring fans and sponsors to the arena. Baggage can be washed away with cash

Yes... YES. Next coach needs to be a STRONGLY AGREE on the agree-disagree scale with: "if you're not cheating; you're not trying" and "it's not worth winning if you can't win big."

Ok but just remember every dollar spent on basketball is a dollar not spent on football.

That is utter bullshite. All due respect, attitudes like that piss me off. It’s NOT a zero sum game. Get a decent product on the floor and basketball can bring in a little positive cash flow on its own. Everybody knows at Alabama football gets first dibs and always will. But it’s not like the football team is lacking for anything right now. We’re wasting money on more renovations to BDS when it doesn’t need it. Meanwhile basketball continues to play in a horrible arena that should have been replaced 10 years ago but we continue to throw good money after bad for renovations to Coleman Mausoleum. Don’t bring that garbage in here that basketball might deprive football of ANYTHING!!

I'm ok with that. Football gets too much as it is.

in the 60's a no name created Bama basketball with the last name of Newton. When he left his assistant a no name took us to the next level and his name was Wimp. We don't need a Rick Pitino to elevate us to a perennial NCAA team. Someone who can coach X and O's and develop the players. Charisma and being able to recruit are good. But the Butlers of the world were making long runs into the dance with no name guys who were being coached up and when they became juniors and seniors they were making it happen.

So, I think I've decided that I would be ok with Pitino, but not this quick. I would want at least SOME investigation by our people to feel good about his NCAA standing. Regardless, I definitely would prefer Donovan at every turn, but Pitino seems more likely to come here.

I have mentioned this in previous posts but Stankey would have to approve Bama hiring Petino and I would put this at a big ? mark on whether he approved it or not. There are reports that Bama wanted to hire Freeze just a few month ago and got a big fat nix from Stankey. Stankey is in close communication with the NCAA who I think would ultimately give a thumbs up or thumbs down. I think people are having wet dreams hoping for Petino and Billy D. If those guys were in the market and would the NCAA approve Petino then UCLA is the biggest name looking. It would be UCLA and then everyone else

If basketball is profitable, there are more dollars to spend on both basketball and football
