So what if Ole Miss said frick it, and rehires Freeze? They can because most schools still consider him radioactive. But if he’s learned his lesson and is available how do you not hire him? He’s grateful for the chance, at least for now, and now is probably the only time Ole Miss has a shot at him because as soon as he starts winning at Liberty, people’s memories will grow very short and he will be a hot commodity. And Ole Miss will have missed their chance.
That’s where Alabama basketball is at this moment. We can gamble on a proven winner with a checkered past who wants another shot, or we can miss the opportunity and it will be gone forever.

The problem with some of the analysis in this coaching search discussion is some short-sightedness as to what the rest of the league is doing. Nearly every other basketball program in the SEC has made MAJOR upgrades in coaching and facilities, and are experiencing historic success. Things are not the way they always have been. Unless Alabama wants to fall behind the rest of the league and be a basement dweller in basketball, some serious upgrades have got to be made in coaching and facilities. The money is there, and it’s time to step up.

Do you know how proud I would be if the board gave the ok to get Pitino? I'd feel like they were taking basketball as serious as I do. PLEASE BE REAL

Is he gonna receive a show cause? That would be the only thing I would be worried about. If not, for sure hire him.

I gotta come clean, because I was anti Pitino just yesterday, maybe even today (can’t remember) even posted my sentiments on this forum. But the more I’ve thought about it, and watched Pearl take Auburn to where they are with all his NCAA baggage, wth not. Let’s do it.

You don’t have any big names yet confirming it, but just a lot of guys that spend all their time on Twitter following basketball and coaching changes are saying their sources (whether legit or not) are confirming he’s a candidate with some even saying he’s going to be the guy. There’s got to be at least some truth in my mind that Bama has at least guaged his interest.

Dude, I’m not saying it’s Jay Bilas confirming that he’s hired. I’m just saying there’s a lot of talk right now and usually there’s at least an element of some truth to these kinds of things.

There is a bit of smoke to it I'll give you that. Just seems pretty inconceivable given that Louisville just had to vacate 4 seasons of wins due to infractions committed under Petino's watch. I wouldn't be mad if it happened to be honest. Even if he went legit, which I hope he would, he is still one of the best coaches in the country no doubt.
