In Alabama, you have to have a license to cut hair, but don't need one to broker multi-million dollar deals with state funded institutions. What a time to be alive.

Who cares what other schools are spending? Explain to me the 10 of millions of dollars a&m has spent on their rosters with a head start over everyone and yet this is the first year they made the playoffs and still have not won a playoff game.
All the elite schools with their elite budgets everyone keeps mentioning guess what they are just like Alabama sitting home watching other teams now play for a NC.

The highest I have seen is just slightly above us but they are way behind OSU, Oregon, Texas, a&m, and TT

Exactly. If I'm starting a team from scratch, my first emphasis is building the best OL then DL I can. Success always starts with the LOS

Morgan should not take any commitments from portal players. That is high school bullshite.
They visit and sign or nothing. They had recruiting shows in high school.

The puzzling thing is he was on campus and getting ready to take classes. How was he not signed?

I'd love to see the breakdown of funds.
Someone earlier in the thread mentioned that Arkel Anugwom is getting $500K at Northwestern to be a 3rd stringer/development guy and would have been 3rd string if he stayed with Alabama. If we are saying the 2 deep on the depth chart is getting $500K plus... that's a little over $21MM for 44 guys. IF guys of Wilkin Formby's talent level are going for $1.7MM... we are in deep shite. You better be able to make chicken salad out of chicken shite and those type of position coaches dont grow on trees. The vast majority of good position coaches are good because they have the best talent.

Someone needs to get on the BOL or On3 guys to explain this. It makes no sense, but I also wonder what Alabama or the SEC have guys sign NIL wise. Damon Wilson left UGA last year after signing as well, so the SEC may be behind the times with the contracts. I know the BIG 10 has a pretty ironclad contract from the Demond Williams stuff.

Someone earlier had posted that Alabama has spent a lot of that money on installations/facilities and bells and whistles the players like.
Yes, Bama can't get 'em all. I completely get that, but when we're getting out hustled by schools like Cal, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Louisville, that's not acceptable.

I have read his agent was in contact with Texas during their visit to Bama. It's all about the money and nothing else. What would a player from NC State care about a trophy case?
We're just another shark in the water.

You wanna see despair try reading some of the Ohio St boards before this "win". Made this place seem like Shangri-La.

That trophy case is irrelevant at the moment when the current staff wasn’t responsible for filling it.

but is leaving AU right now really a sign of low character?
Yes. If you are at an elite conference SEC team, a starter and pretty much a guaranteed 1st round pick, you arent leaving for opportunity, you are leaving for $$$.
I think there are some justifiable reasons to transfer like a legitimate bump in opportunity(moving up a division or better conference), an upperclassmen looking for a chance to get playing time, a family issue...things like this
Leaving the team that you committed to, that gave you tremendous opportunity and spent resources developing you...just to chase money absolutely makes you low character. Only in 2020whatever do say its ok to forgo commitment for purely selfish reasons and this is perfectly ok.
Im ashamed of my alma mater for getting into a bidding war for an Auburn receiver.
frick the portal so much
