Official Melt Thread
- O’Brien isn’t as good as Sark
- Bryce isn’t as good as Mac or Tua. He may get there but right now he’s not.
- Offensive line needs a lot a work
- We don’t have a Heisman trophy contender at WR.

This was all pretty much known coming into the season.

Bruce has been ridiculously good for the amount of experience he has. Not having a WR that is consistently wide open like a Saddle or Devonta makes him appear to not be on that level.

Yep. Suck all the joy out of a hard fought win, and arguably the toughest game on our schedule.

It's all on me boys. Took my youngest to the Miami vs Sparty game today because we had great tix and it was live football

I abandoned all of my GameDay rituals, drinks, foods and didn't even wear the right shirt. Completely unfocused for UF.

On a good note, in spite of all my negligence, Bama pulled it out.

Maybe I have nothing to do with the outcomes of games... nah, that is ridiculous. I'll do better going forward

Once again Slade Bolden is stealing snaps from more talented players that can actually catch and add some explosiveness to the offense and special teams. Slade Bolden needs to get familiar with a clipboard. If the offense doesn't clean up his mess with that dropped ball in the endzone that hit him in the freaking eyeballs Bama loses that game today, and all the slade sunshine pumpers on this board would be crying in their beer. I called it last week.

OL has to be retooled. Need a better more explosive player in the slot.

I still have no idea WTF I just witnessed from the defense.

It’s crazy the only thing on your mind is Slade. We had 10 dropped passes and he had 1. Yeah it was for a TD but hell, Bryce walks in the end zone for a TD but instead a flicks the ball? Slade is far from the problem.

Can we ask Saban if the duck can be the defensive coordinator?

Touché. However, there is a reason the younger guys haven’t passed him.

Look there’s a lot of stuff going on with this team. On offense there are certainly some issues to be solved. But if we’re being honest, this offense is not performing worse than we could have reasonably hoped for given all the new pieces. When it mattered, they weren’t perfect, but they did enough to win.

I do think there is a longer term problem of the players who give us the highest ceiling not currently playing. Specifically at TE, Slot, RT, and perhaps RB.

But again, these problems are normal for such a young offense. They have the benefit of the doubt until midseason at least.

The defense though? Inexcusable. This is a deep, experienced, ultra athletic defense. It is supposed to be the strength of the team, only to be rivaled by the units at UGA and Clemson. There is absolutely no excuse for allowing a touchdown on every single second half possession. No excuse for letting a one dimensional team rush for 250 yards at 6 yards a clip. No excuse for letting a team steamroll you for a 99 yard drive.

The defense has been disappointing for three straight years and there is only one common denominator: Pete. He is the problem. You can’t deny it anymore.

You know I posted this in the game thread but I’ll put it again because it’s so true.

Our Mike libebackers consistently look lost, confused, and out of position. When it was Shane Lee we said “well he’s a freshman.” When it was Dylan Moses we said “well he’s not a true mike” or “well he’s banged up.” What’s the excuse for To’o To’o? We’ve already seen it. We KNOW he’s good. We’ve seen him be really good at another school that runs the exact same scheme. And yet he, just like Lee and Moses, looks to be getting WORSE in our system.

How can the same thing happen to all three players? Well what’s the common denominator? The position coach: Pete.

If Pete’s position played great, you could say maybe it’s the other players, maybe it’s the other coaches. But the fact is, his position has underperformed relative to expectations more than any other group on either side of the ball the past three years.

He’s not the guy. He can coach them fine against a crappy offense, against an opposing signal caller who’s equally mediocre. But against the best? Against Mullen, or Kiffin, or Brady, or hell even Gus… he just isn’t up to the task.

The definition of insanity… doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. We’re at that point now. It has to change.

The main problem was our defense. We could not stop them from running or throwing. Literally no alphas on defense except Anderson. Where was the DL? The safeties? Jobe 2 big penalties( one was crap). Lbs out of position too often.
If the offense doesn't get us to a fast start, where would we be? Our first real test and we were found wanting. Now it's all about coaching and how the players respond to it.

It's an offense that is going to have to methodically move the ball down the field, but this Golding led defense is pure shite and it puts extraordinary pressure on that kind of offense to play opposite a soft defense.
This is a concise summation of the major issues with this team. Shore up the defense like... tomorrow, or face the consequences. There is a reason Georgia and Arkansas look fricking great right now, and it's not the offense.

Y’all

On the 3rd and 9 from the 1..

What the frick was #1 doing?

He saw the play, ran up to make the tackle at the spot of the catch, and then literally just did nothing and let the guy run for the first down.

Never seen anything like it. They’re punting to us from their own endzone instead of a 99 yard drive that completely got them back in the game.

Btw, are Traeshon Holden and Agiye Hall even on this team anymore? I remember Saban saying during the A-Day game that Hall might be the most explosive player on this team and that we needed to find ways to get him the ball, and now he doesn’t even play (other than the second half against Mercer).

I agree with what is said here.

I will preface this by saying before the season the game that worried me the most was UF. Basically new offense having to learn to play together with an inexperienced QB at a highly ranked UF so early in the season. We know Mullen was going to game plan for us like the it was the CG and had it circled on his calendar.

To many people in here anointed Young as the next Tua but I never saw that. Do I think Young is good, yes, but give him time. I think he did well considering how little he has been in this situation and how hostile the environment was. So impressed he held it together.

Overall problems on offense can be fixed but need time. Young will get his timing down as the season progresses. Even with the OL struggles he keeps his composure. A bonus for me is how well Latu is playing. I would love to see some 2 TE sets for Young in the game with both Latu and Billingsley out there.

Now I have never been one to get after coaches on here but there is no reason our D should look the way it does with all the talent we have out there. From a pure talent standpoint we might currently have the best under Saban but Golding is wasting it. He seems to have no answer and gets out played by the opposing OC to many times. He never has an answer. Anderson just like in the Miami game had to step up. I also really like what I saw in Sanders on D. But it is time for Golding to go in my opinion or at least get demoted. No excuse for squandering all the talent we have.
