Personally I just want the whining to stop. If he leaves he leaves, move on. We changed coaches, it happens but we have a massive chunk returning so

My point was retaining the critical defensive staff was more important than dragging his Great Plains and Pacific Northwest Posse. The offer should not have happened on Sunday night. It should have happened Friday night on the private jet.
he retained roach, steele retired, and Robinson wants to be Kirby's bitch. Personally, I'd rather get an actual good defensive coordinator than retain a guy like Robinson who's only ever been a decent coach, and was a pretty below average defense of coordinator the last place he was at. You guys are getting too worked up over a couple of players, a good coach who can make everybody better is more important than players who were there just because of who the head coach or position coach was in the first place. You're not going to retain them when those people leave. The coaches he brought from Washington that you're complaining about are all much better coaches than who they're replacing.

Regardless of who stays, you're gonna have to win with who you got. So the objective should be to find good coaches who can cultivate positive relationships with their players and prospects. Hate that it seems like we fumbled Downs because he's like Minkah but we do have good DB talent beside him.

He's the best player on the roster in my estimation and the type of talent that could singlehandedly change the trajectory for a defensive unit in DeBoer's first two years.

There will be transfers in and out. Change comes with change. I think keeping these players who are anxious to leave would be a mistake. If they aren’t all in now, they won’t be all in the rest of the time they are here.

Why handcuff yourself to someone who will be willing to leave at any moment in time.

There's no doubt about that. Downs is irreplaceable.

Hes not the best defensive player on our team, hes the best defensive player in the entire league in a couple years.

One day you will eat those words. I would take one Grubb over two Caleb Downs.

I'll have to figure out how best to prepare those words when the day comes.

If Womack is offered then there is zero chance he turns it down. It's a career maker role.

Is it wrong to think he is our DC if we don't hear any other names in the next day

At this point I guess I’ve all but accepted Downs is probably leaving, which would open up for a few more key pieces possibly exiting as well

Will be gut wrenching if/when it happens

What have you seen from Wommack that makes you interested in bringing him in to be the DC?

I'm a bit confused why some folks are excited about him as a potential DC candidate.

UPDATE: According to @Charlie_Potter, due to Coach DeBoer’s busy schedule, he is expected to instead be introduced at next week’s game against Auburn.

Good job, DeBoer. He was supposed to be introduced at the Basketball game tomorrow. He told 'em he ain't got time for that.
