I would cherry pick Schumann from UGA as DC IF DeBoer at Bama

the 30 days thing shouldn't start until after a school has a new coach hired, that or they get 30 days after the hire to accept players from the portal

It's definitely one of my favorite things about Lane. He's definitely willing and eager to jump into the hottest furnace CFB has seen in decades.

I don’t hate the idea of Schumann in general, much less as DC. It’s not him, but I think he’ll be an outstanding HC one day.

There was no plan. What a disaster.

Why would Schumann leave Kirby and UGA to be the DC for DeBoer?

It also concerns me DeBoer will leave for the NFL in a few years

Absolutely, but that's the double edge sword. If you want an elite coach to follow Saban (nothing will replace him), then there will always be risk of them leaving. If you want someone with a low risk of leaving, odds are they aren't elite. We have been spoiled that Saban was both so good, and so entrenched at UA for 17 years.

The 30 days should start as soon as the coach leaves. If you have a long wait the kids can’t leave which stunk a because other schools have academic calendars that can’t wait weeks or months.

Maybe, just maybe we never saw his full potential because of a host of other issues starting with the line and a QB that doesn't have elite level confidence and add in an OC that was new to the system

There are reports of them working on a contract extension, but nothing concrete.

There are also reports that he's already been sitting on a $10 mil/year contract extension and he hasn't signed it.

Imagine Deboer comes, brings Grubb, and we bring Schumann over to be the DC (and HC in waiting for when Deboer potentially leaves for the NFL). The melt from other fanbases would be hilarious.

Well Saturday afternoon @ 3 is the deadline Greg gave the players. If a player goes portal before that he apparently just wants to leave regardless.

Hell no there want a plan. It would have been done like Saban does things. Retire big announcement to public. Not thru chris low. 24 hours later replacement.

Or just don't officially announce the coaching change... Keep Nick as HC * (emeritus). But overall it will, I hope balance out. Get some lose some.

I'm sure that's a contributor... but he's not Jones, Cooper, or Smitty.

Crazy that the 2 players that made two of the biggest plays for us in Iron Bowl history won't finish their careers at Bama. Things were a lot more fun before the portal.
