Side note, thank you Tide for letting me in here, it's very cordial unlike the mess in the rant lmao

Schumann would be about the only "never been a head coach before" hire I could see working because I imagine he would actually prefer that Saban hangs around and mentors him.

Kiffin was only 31 when he was hired by the Raiders. Sean McVay was 30 at the Rams
Mayo is the current youngest head coach. He's a month younger than Sean McVay.

He’s a month younger than Sean McVay who had been a head coach since 2017.
Mayo isn’t close to the youngest NFL coach ever.

If we strike out on Debeor. I would be OK with Schumann

Just a massive gamble...
But with Lanning and Sark off the board (and Kiffin and Dabo not wanted), it leaves us with DeBoer or bust for a Tier 1 coach (maybe, maybe, maybe Norvell, but I'm not sold). I would much rather have Schumann than Rees, that's for sure.

I’m almost certain Kiffin was younger than that when he was hired by the Raiders.

The secr is a fricking trash nightmare, and has been for years. Theyve letting trolls ruin what used to be a fun board.
Still love plenty of other pages on tigerdroppings, but secrant, which used to be the flagship for me, is garbage.

I think there is something off with the idea that we can’t hire kiffin because of hurt feelings. We see the largest brand in college football. It might just be time to get over your feelings.

This is where I'm at currently... especially after hearing some of the other names like Rees

If Alabama is open to hiring a coordinator as head coach, then a shitload of potential candidates are on the board.
Rees should not be on that board.
Rees should not be on that board.

The rant is an unredeemable mess.
I've said it before, if Paul Finebaum's radio show had a message board it would be the SECrant.
There are ten people there wanting to talk football being shouted at by hundreds of morons who are either trolling or have sub 80 IQs.

You just cant compare NFL to CFB. We are talking professional grown men who are much more mature. It takes age and experience to command the respect of 18-20 year olds. Following a 72 year old alpha dog is not feasible for an early/mid 30s guy, no matter the talent

If we strike out on Debeor, I hope we go Kleinman or Leipold

Oh no doubt. I trust Greg Byrnes though, so if he goes that route, hr must have a lot of confidence. It may be unfair to him, but Byrnes has the keys to the kingdom of the premier program in college sports. If he risked it and it tanks, would be a huge hit for his career.
Also, and this may just be the optimist in me, but I don’t see Saban letting someone take over and ruining the program he’s left behind. I think he has to have some hand involved to make sure the next person to come in is someone he believes will keep it rolling. So if he and Byrnes both agreed to hire Schumann, I would have faith that it turns out great.
