Milroe 3.45 second release time on average in 2023 was the worst in the FBS. This again had been on display this year. It makes him more vulnerable to the blitz and of course poor Oline play. Problem is that unless someone is clearly wide open he won’t throw the ball outside of 50 yard hurl and pray type of pass. He’s a freak athlete and great guy but not a great QB. Hope someone drafts him high in hopes of him developing at next level.

Everything that you say is true. But there will still be people here and on social media who will call you a hater for simply stating the obvious facts. Really hope that we can get through this season so that we can get a look at the complete offense next year with Simpson as the starter.

Yeah but it's everyone else's fault, not Milroe's...

The same PFF article that references that stat ranks Milroe as the 3rd best QB in college football

It does not matter even though I agree because he is who we got and need to build the offense around him the best we can.
He is an average at best QB with a strong but inaccurate arm who wants to show off his arm strength and ignore short routes.
Long term we just need to shore up the OL and develop the best run game we can. We have the RB talent to do it as well.

Milroe isn't the best QB we've had the last few years but I wonder how much more he would benefit from WRs that can actually separate and an OL that either can't snap the ball or whatever the hell that performance was last night at RT. There's plenty of blame to go around.

He doesn’t seem to anticipate throws and he needs a very clean pocket to process and work through reads. Those are issues since we can’t consistently provide that, especially against pressure.
We can mitigate that by calling some simple quick hitches and screens, especially early in the game to keep the defense honest.
Last night we were keeping the RB in to protect a lot (didn’t seem to help) and then we seemed to have no other short routes to dump the ball to. We also were trying some kind of WR now / QB keeper RPO last night and it was horrible. Hopefully they throw that one in the garbage.

five Mississippi, six Mississippi, seven Mississippi, eight Mississippi,
Milroe is too polarizing. The fans that can't see he's not a QB will never concede. I dont know what it is they love so much, but it damn sure isn't his QB play.
Watching Milroe play QB is about as much fun as going to the DMV.

I think that people are scared to openly call for him to be benched. DeBoer is in a tough position with this quarterback room. Milroe is the most experienced player but not the most talented.

Waiting for Ystar and Bonners to get in here and say exactly that.

It's not that I'm scared it's just that I'm not convinced his back-up is any better. I have seen Simpson play, both in garbage time and in meaningful time, and there is nothing that he has shown me so far that makes me believe he would be the better option.

There was a throw to a crossing route over the middle, wide open, where it was high and behind to the point the WR has to stop and catch it behind their body
Bonners like clockwork: “Great throw Milroe!”

They see his running ability and him hitting wide open receivers for long touchdowns. That you can't win a championship relying solely on defensive busts is beyond their understanding of football. We had these same discussions about Jalen Hurts in 2017. People frothing at the mouth if you criticized him, blaming receivers and the defense for any loss. Those of us who could tell Tua was better in his first A-Day game were shouted down.
They then disappeared and denied this had happened after Tua came off the bench against Georgia, the same way they denied there having been threads ranking Milroe as one of the best Saban quarterbacks before the Michigan game.
It's just tiresome to deal with these people. So much so that it's really not worth coming here anymore, but I haven't found anywhere else that's better in this regard.

Tua had the it factor. I was Team Jalen but only because I trusted the coaches to make the correct personnel decisions. However, I could tell that Tua was a special player even though he was only playing in garbage time. Want to know the big difference between 2017 and 2024? There is no discernable difference between Ty Simpson and Jalen Milroe as of yet.

It was pretty obvious how talented Tua was his first year at Alabama. There was a lot of hype and talk around him during camp and the dude was slinging it in garbage time and dropping dimes like in the Vanderbilt game.
By the time bowl prep came around I don’t even remember it being too controversial to want to go with Tua, we were too talented at WR to keep having duds in the passing game.
The issue people keep ignoring is there isn’t a Tua on the bench. Ty Simpson has had multiple years and multiple coaching staffs to make a move and he hasn’t. When he does get some action he doesn’t even look impressive. Haven’t heard much regarding Lonergan and Mack is a long term project.
I don’t think there is some grand conspiracy for why Milroe is still starting, he’s simply our best option.

Yeah, but we have Cade Carruth sitting on the bench. So there is a conspiracy.
