With all the ongoing whining and complaining about the current system, I guarantee it’ll expand in the next year or two.
And then, it’ll probably expand AGAIN. Sigh.

As long as the teams that are in the playoff are selected by a committee, people are going to continue to complain pretty much regardless of how many teams are allowed in. We will continue to be left wondering what it is that the committee is looking for when evaluating which teams should be in and the order in which the teams that are in should be ranked.

Pointless. No team ranked lower than 10 will ever win the championship and I'll be surprised if a team lower than 8 does. With that said Bama, even with its holes, could win it this year with how average all the "top" teams look.

I told my friends when they went to 4 that they would complain and whine and want 8. Then they talked about 12 and approved it. I told them that before we even get done with the first 12 team playoff, people will scream for 16. It will never stop. Everyone gets a trophy

No, in this case, it's everyone wants a chance. And with the way the SEC cannibalized itself this year, it's never been harder to pick who is the best.

The most I could see them expanding to is 14, that’s at least how many teams are included in the NFL playoffs, if they’re trying to emulate that format to a degree. But going past that number is silly.

I think it will expand to 16 because of the first round home games and the revenue that is generated from those games. Top 8 hosts first round. NIL FUNDING!!!!
