Looking forward to a different challenge next season

- A bit of the changing of the guard in the football building with some young blood that has only tasted defeat on the big stage and is plenty talented
- A new offensive coach who will in all liklihood be a step up from the previous one (I don't believe Golding is going anywhere)
- An incredibly fun home schedule - the best in decades (Texas, Arkansas, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee)
- Truly being the hunter and not the hunted. Not just making things up or taking them out of context, but truly not being in the kings chair
Between all these factors and the home schedule, the fan base should be excited and crowds should be rabid next season - as much so since the 2014/2015 teams that everyone loved so much and seemed to bring a 2008 level energy to.
Nothing will ever feel like 2008 did again (unless we go through another period of darkness, which I'm good never seeing again), but this is about as close to that sort of situation as we've had in the last 15 years. If the program responds to it in the way we hope they do (certainly not a given, but you can be hopeful) and we come of the gate playing good ball - I think we could see a reinvigoration of things where they probably got a bit stale before. There shouldn't be any complacency or spoiled thinking in that building or in the fanbase at this point.

I don't have inside info or anything I just think Saban is willing to give up control of the basics of the defense, that is going to keep away elite guys who don't run a version of our stuff and the majority of those guys are either in Athens or Eugene and don't really want to come here. So, in the end, Golding stays.
Would love to be wrong.

Murderer's row of a schedule and new QB. We will need some guys to improve by leaps and bounds.
I think certain areas (linebacker/safety) we'll see addition by subtraction if the guys that claim those spots don't stall out in their development between now and then. A guy like Campbell has a ceiling substantially higher than HTT.
It's going to be tough though. That is a schedule that could easily see two close losses, which as we know will absolutely keep Alabama out.
Texas and LSU should be improved. Tennessee should take a step back but still present a scheme that could give us problems. I'm ready to see how the guys look at A-day for sure.
Every year when we do the "predict your teams record" thread on the SECR I'm either at 12-0 or 11-1, only predicting 11-1 because I know how hard it is to go undefeated, not because I don't think we aren't the best team in the country heading in.
I'm more 11-1 10-2 heading into next season though, potentially even 9-3 depending on how the QBs look. We're at a crossroads here. The OC hire needs to be a good one

To repeat myself, this is the most important off-season Saban has had since arriving at Bama. It will pretty much define how the closing years of his career will go. How he handles it will tell me a LOT. Watching closely.

And all 3 of them at home. That stadium being loud like it has been at times in huge games in the past for every one of those home games is going to be very, very important.
It's going to be kind of awesome, to be honest. Been a long time since the need for it and the schedule that provides it lined up like this.

Think you meant Saban "isn't" willing and I agree completely with you.
On a separate note, with the SEC moving to ESPN, I hope we can have more of those big home games at night instead of 2:30.

In think the opposite, that Golding is for sure gone and BOB might be brought back.

FOr the freaking 100 time.. BOB is not coming back. It's been said over and over and over that he is not.

I hope we replace both coordinators so that would be good news.

Same, but I just don't see it with Pete. Would love to, though.

I think Saban will make a good hire on both sides of teh ball. Saban saw what Georgia can do up front last night, and he definitely can fix that. Just get a good OC that can get creative with play calling... not necessary on Sark's level, but good enough to get the job done. Saban is going to want someone who's not going to bolt for NFL or another job after 1 year. That's critical.

As crazy as it sounds I actually look forward to a new QB. It actually helps because, assuming that it's Simpson, no one will know his capabilities. Opponents don't have film of him yet. He might not be Bryce but he's not far off. The guy is talented. And unlike Bryce in 2021 he will have a strong supporting cast.

stop.
There's nothing you could have possibly seen so far from Ty to say "he's not far off" from BY. I don't care how many times you've seen him in HS games, college practices, etc., until he does BY-like things in games against SEC competition, you can't compare him to BY.

Does not compute. If Pete is back we're going to be relying on a new OC and QB to score 45+ every weekend if we want to win a championship.

Yeah I dont see any way that Golding is DC next season.

I just can't accept that he's gone and then see him back out there. Can't do it. Won't do it.

I do. I kind of agree with George. Saban won't give up control of his defensive system and the only guy who successfully runs something similar and isn't currently working in Athens or Eugene is Jim Leonhard. I can see us kicking the tires there and maybe trying to bring Glen Schumann home, but if they both say no we're stuck with a drunk hobbit who thinks the best way to utilize an All American edge rusher is to stunt him inside straight into a double team 19 times per game.
I'm just saying that if that dipshit is still our DC next season, my expectations will be very, very low given the uncertainty at the QB and WR positions. I just don't see a way to get excited about a team that has Pete Golding running its defense. It literally took one of the most unstoppable offenses in the history of the sport to overcome his incompetence.
Of course, we could just hire Pruitt and tell the NCAA to suck our collective dicks. If we do that then I'll be Gumping hard this off-season.
