We don't defense and we don't have a leader on the team. 3s ain't the problem.

Come on... we're shooting 43% from 3 pt land. Clearly we're dying by the 3, exactly like OP expertly suggested... and not all the turnovers he mentions 0 times.
I don't know what you're so jazzed up about. This team sucks against anyone with a pulse.

OP is correct. Oats is what he is. I accept that. He is about as good as Bama will get but he has some serious flaws in his coaching.

Alabama offense in both basketball and football are set up with a single point of failure by design. 3-point shooting / QB centric. Both concepts do need active defense to work well against the upper tear teams.
This past season, in football, they managed to find a 2nd failure point that damages the QB centric approach. That second failure point was the OL and that failure pushes the QB centric concept into an accelerated failure mode when facing good defenses.
In Basketball, Alabama needs at least (2) 3-point shooters to be [ON] for the system to work.

Florida made 3 from behind the arc and still scored 100 on our porous defense.
But at least the offense turned it over 18x.
Alabama scored exactly ZERO points off of turnovers.
Points in the paint: 72-26. frick.
I'm glad I forgot this game was on today.

41% from 3. Maybe we should have jacked up a bunch more 3s and stopped trying to drive and making turnovers or getting shots blocked under the goal?

Not too long ago I criticized Oats' coaching style and got hammered a bit. More people are probably seeing my point now. Playing out of control with no defense is a recipe for losing. Watch the way Arizona plays and recruit accordingly if you want good basketball teams.

I get frustrated watching the games but Oats took a team that stumbled down the stretch to the final four and to the elite eight last year. I'll be happy he is the coach until he stops making the tournament with a legit shot. We have not looked good against the big bruiser teams but we played them non conference. Better than making the record look better playing weak teams.
I was looking to do better in league play this year since the conference is down from last year. We need to win the next two. We definitely don't need to get blown out like today against bucky and baby.
The talent isnthere to make a run, Oats is a great coach that may need to twik his system, maybe more big man heavy, hell I don't know but he's a smart guy and will figure it out, glad he is our coach.

By all means let’s compare the last 5 seasons of Alabama and Arizona basketball
Bama
4 Sweet 16s
2 Elite 8
1 Final 4
2 Conference Titles
2 Conf Tourney Titles
Arizona
3 Sweet 16s
0 Elite 8s
0 Final 4s
2 Conference Title
2 Conf Tourney Titles
You guys have lost your minds. Coach K missed tournaments. Roy Williams missed tournaments. Cal missed tournaments. We are a top 9 or 10 program in the sport the last half decade and we’re melting down over what’s probably gonna end up being a 6 seed

The ncaa tournament comparison was the first thing I thought of when I saw that post.

Our basketball fanbase suffers from bleedover from our football fanbase. Even in football the "Gawddammit we are Alabama we better not never lose no games or trail in a football game for even a single minute" mindset is poisonous when our coach isn't the literal GOAT, but then those same retards want Alabama basketball to be the same when it isn't and will never be. Oats' teams frustrate me sometimes but at the end of the day the man wins far more than he loses and has made us a perennial tournament participant that regularly makes deep runs. He isn't perfect and his system has strengths and weaknesses but he's a damn sight better than any other basketball coach we've ever had and we're lucky he's showed loyalty to us when he could have cashed in his chips and gone to a blue blood multiple times. Anyone trying to say we should consider moving on from him should consider moving on themselves and finding some other team to cheer for because we don't fricking want you.

Sure and his squad was on the bubble last year. There is some ebb and flow to this

Is this post a fricking joke?
A recipe for losing??? All Oats does is win since he’s been here, you wanna go back to Avery Johnson and Anthony Grant?
“If you want good basketball teams”
Our fan base is literally retarded
This team is down compared to recent teams but my God, they absolutely have the chance to either win the SECT or make a 2nd weekend run in the NCAA Tourney again.
wtf is wrong with you

Preach, brother, preach! If I'm not mistaken Oats is literally the winningest coach in the conference since arriving at Bama, and yet we have absolute brickbrains on this board accusing him of "not coaching winning basketball" and pining for the days of Gottfried and Grant and Johnson. I don't even know how to respond to that, quite honestly, other than to look around for their handler.
