He had 4 years as a DC. Two at USA and two at Indiana. He had one good year at Indiana but the 3 other years his defenses were ranked middle of the pack or worse in their respective conferences in yards, points, and ypp

Again, why the hell was this guy hired? I refuse to believe DeBoer was not given the resources to hire a much better DC. Sounds like he went with familiarity, so this will not end well.

Pavia might be the 3rd best QB on Texas’ roster. Hes behind Milroe, Beck, Ewers, Nico, Manning, and Dart. No conversation there. 3rd in the league is an indefensible statement.

I am Ot impressed with Womack but come on man. DeBoer is moving half way across the country to an area he is not familiar with and he hires a guy he knows who coaches at a college in the state he is moving to. It makes perfect sense. It may end up being a bad hire but some of yall are losing your minds for no reason. Womack is the guy for this season and there’s no changing that.

Our best defensive back is a true freshman.

Disagree with that. The two true freshmen are usually the ones chasing the Wr from behind. The pick in the Georgia game is skewing your perspective imo.

plays. Our defense never gets to rest as our offense methodically marches down the field.

From the start, when they were fresh, they could not make a third down stop and get off the field. It’s why they are tired. Vandy punted two times. One of those ended up being a penalty which gave them a 1st down. They finished the drive and scored.

I dont know why I even have to explain this...but Vandy runs the triple option. Pavia is not only the best option QB in cfb, but also a senior who has proven repeatedly that he can take less talented teams and win against any team.

I know this is a hard concept for you, but a QB is good relative to the offense he runs. He literally didnt make one single bad decision against Bama and didnt miss one throw. The shovel pass plays were a work of art. Most qbs shite their pants when they try to execute that play.

Its Tuesday, have you finally moved on?

Serious question.... Who knows Kane Womack that well? I've seen him for 5 games

That is the question. I know this is a totally new coaching staff and I like Deboer. I just wish CNS can offer Wommack some guidance. Last year when Georgia went down the field, and coach told Steele to change the defense and it worked out for us.
Maybe its just wishful thinking on my part to find a solution to this.

No one does, just like when people were trying to justify the hire

Sorta. Looked at the film review.

Vandy took advantage of what we like to do on defense. We’d get in the same look over and over, and Vandy’s preparation showed they expected it. Pavia kept getting to make an easy decision to make with the ball, and he just kept executing.

Being predictable on scheme is why Georgia lit us up in the 2nd half, and how Vandy made 3rd and long after 3rd and long.

If we remain predictable expecting our talent to win every one on one matchup it won’t be the last team to score 40 on us.

I agree. He’s NOT going to be fired mid season, maybe not even at the end of the season. However, if the D plays that poorly the rest of the season, Womack’s coaching seat is going to be scorching hot next season. I’m talking molten magma hot.

If he is sh*t canned, make one of these guys an offer they can’t refuse:

Phil Parker-DC at Iowa. Dude pretty consistently puts out a good, sometimes great defenses with pretty much nothing to work with.

Brad White-DC at Kentucky (and by a totally bizarre coincidence, same name as me but no relation). He usually has pretty solid defenses with subpar talent. His guys always play hard and fundamentally sound.

Peter Simon-DC at Cal. Does a lot with subpar talent. 2023 Cal led the nation in turnovers and I believe they are #1 this year too (so far).

Sounds like we may have a culture issue already less than a year into his tenure. I think culture and recruiting are the life blood of the program and the key to consistency. Would DeBeor's culture not be vetted by Byrne when making the biggest hire in collegiate sports? Was there enough sample size for him to go by regarding cultivating a successful culture? I think not and DeBoer is learning on the job in that aspect and may be in over his head.

I think everyone needs to calm down. Let's at least give the dude a season before we start questioning every single thing. Absolutely insane what a difference a few days can make. This time last week everyone was sure as shite that we got our coach, and the train wasn't stopping. Wild shite. Let's just take some breaths and see where things go.

There is some chatter making the rounds that when team meetings begin and CKD walks in the room, players are chatting and listening to music etc, and basically Coach has to call attention to have them start listening.

This is stark contrast to when Nick was the coach and players were more buttoned up and their attention was immediately grabbed by his presence.

Look, I am not saying that the players don’t respect the head coach, but I think everyone would agree that there has been a drastic change in atmosphere and/or “culture” in the last 9 months. And we know that on one or two occasions, players were treated to ice cream after practices during camp.

Only time will tell if the “change” is for the better or worse. As of today, the trend is a bit disturbing.

Nope. This has been going on for the last few years. It's one of the reasons Nick retired. And it's not a product of whoever the coach is, it's this generation of players. I call them the "instant gratification generation". If one thing doesn't hold their attention they've got 10 other options available. Bored watching YouTube? Lets pop on over to TikTok. Bored with that? Let's scroll Twitter. They've never had to be patient or put in some effort to entertain themselves.

Well, I agree with most of what you are saying. But still, what we are seeing is the classic unfolding that typically happens during a transition from a “disciplinarian” type of coach to a “players coach”. And once the players have adjusted to the new style, you can’t suddenly change your stripes and try to crack the whip on them. They will call that bluff immediately.

At this point things are not completely hopeless, but another loss and/or close calls with terrible defensive performances could spell disaster for the new staff.

An example of the point you are making, though, is Jaheim Oatis. Someone will be paying a ton of $$$ to have him on their team in 2025. But how likely is it that he turns things around physically and mentally and becomes half the player they hope for when he signs?

Went back and looked at Washington’s defense the last two years.

They gave up a ton of points. Can’t do that shite in the SEC. He is gonna HAVE to bring in a better DC and give him the reigns.

Saturday was essentially the first bad thing that has happened since he took over, and you are acting as if the whole program is in jeopardy. Get a grip man.
