For those that do not want to click the link, Leonhard is leaving Wisky after the bowl game.

He will have his pick, either NFL or college. As far as cfb, Bama is the best for him.

so if he were to come to bama, the question is... would he be allowed to run his defense or would saban force him to continue this crapfest we've been watching since the arrival of sir pete of golding, hmm...
p.s. does he have any experience coaching mlb's?

He runs 3-4 and I'm sure Saban would not hold him back.

If he or another top defensive coach doesn't join the staff in place of Pete, you'll have your answer.

Guessing he can easily land a p5 job today

I'm not sure he'd land a good power 5 job, or one at all. He'd probably be able to get a G5 job, but would he rather do that or spend 2 years at Alabama with elite athletes running his scheme and get a big time P5 job?
I haven't thought the Leonhard/Alabama thing had any shot at happening until now. Wisconsin HC job is filled, he's leaving Wisconsin, we seem to be in a position where a move is possible, he's at the perfect age and level where he's 2-3 great years at an elite level place from moving to HC at a huge school, etc.
All the pieces make sense. Just depends what he wants (and I guess what we do with Golding, barf).

No, he's only been a DB coach/DC in college. But Golding also never coached ILBs until he came here.
I think Leonard goes to the NFL.

Yeah, I think he goes to the NFL too. The Packers want him as their DC. And, Leonhard doesn't seem to want to leave Wisconsin.

We already have a DC.

Saban had to deliver a pink slip first, which I'm not going to hold my breath for.

If we aren't talking to him already, we should be talking to him right now

If he delivers pink slips, he should dangle generous parting bonuses based on winning the bowl game and performing recruiting satisfactorily.

Get the checkbook out.
1. TBD
2. Complete
Getting Leonhard would melt half of the B1G and the SEC.
Co-DCs like UGA would be good enough for me, so long as a fresh mindset came in, and Leonard got the bulk of the gameplan responsibility.
If Pete were let go and Leonhard hired, I wonder if Sal would move back onfield with LBs and Jim take over safeties and DC role?
He's talented and young so retention would be an issue. He's a future HC, but it's certainly worth it.
He's on my Christmas list either way.
