3 and out 7 times with no points, only twice sustained drives more than 5 plays, only twice longer than 2 minutes, and 11 series were of 1:30 and less. 3 points total for the 2 turnovers the defense forced on Clemson's side of the field.

Pathetic

My gawd. Pure wild cat or triple option would have been better than whatever you call the offense Bama ran out there that night.

I know that Jalen wasn't great, but frick Sark sucks arse. I might have changed my tune by now considering Jalen's continuing struggles but he definitely did not help things. He did the exact same thing with Atlanta last year, and they have arguably the most talented offense in all of pro football.

No doubt. Sark had Hurts dropback and read the secondary way too much so even a better quarterback would have struggled as well during their freshman year. Tua is the exception, not the rule. If Sark had stuck to his running backs and short passing game we would have easily won that game.

Agreed. Tua is a different animal. Honestly still kind of mind blown that he did what he did in that 2nd half. You tried to tell me, but I'm a stubborn mfer

Nah. You were on board. You just weren't willing to trash Jalen in the process.

A post on another board...

"Just a reminder (if any were needed) that the 2016 defense was so dominant that they would have won 7 games by themselves with a field goal kicker:

Our defense outscored (by themselves):
USC (7-6)
Kentucky (7-6, including ST, 13-6)

Our defense plus the special teams:
WKU (tie, 10-10)
Kent St (7-0)
Tennessee (14-10)
LSU (3-0)
MSU (9-0)
Washington (10-7)

The defense/ST by themselves lose to ATM only by a score of 14-13.
They would have tied Florida at 16 (the missed PAT was the difference).

In the Washington game, we would have beaten them (on the scoreboard) even if the offense never gained a single yard that day."

It's ridiculous how many TD that defense scored. I don't think it will ever be matched.

It really was incredible. Really demonstrated how awesome that team was. It also helped mask some of our offensive problems.

But I'll never forget sitting in the stands during the 4th Quarter in Tampa last year and going nuts seeing Hurts snap the ball with 17 seconds still on the gameclock. Clemson clearly had the momentum and our defense was getting worn down....but we still had the lead. For the life of me I don't know why we didn't try to shorten the game as much as we could. Screw Kiffin for checking out and screw Sark for being a moron.

That 2016 team deserved a Natty. Glad we got redemption last year. Praise Tua.

I was standing very close to where Renfrow caught the TD pass. I will never forget Jonathan Allen walking off the field with his helmet in his hand absolutely defeated, it made me 100% sick. I hated it for the team. I wish we could have done something different to pull that one out. I stopped forums, tv, and radio after that for months.

He scored in the endzone to our right and we went crazy. My wife was to my right and we were celebrating then I looked over her shoulder and saw over 2 minutes left on the gameclock and my heart sank. I just kinda knew that was too much time.

One more 2nd half first down would've done it.

I had the same exact reaction. We had a dogpile in our row. Pure joy for about 10 seconds. Then I saw the scoreboard and knew we had given Watson plenty of time to with the game.

Eddie Jackson and dion Hamilton would've gone a couple rounds higher if they weren't injured as well. Amazing talent

in that game, with all things as they were. the one decision that changed the outcome was sark abandoning the run when bo went down. it was as if harris and jacobs didnt even exist.

we can point to the offense handing the lead to the defense with 2 minutes left. but be honest, that defense was gassed halfway thru the 3rd qtr. the fact that they held up as good as they did the remainder of the game was pure want to.

In 2016, the offense could have scored zero points all year long and Alabama still would have won six games. That is insane.

Unfortunately the offense didn't look much better in the playoff game. Still almost pulled it off with the offense in turmoil, oh well - you can't win them all.

- Also injuries i think finally caught up on the defensive side and didn't have some of the play makers we had relied on or the bodies to help try and keep people fresh. (not blaming the loss on injuries, but with a game that close basically anything could have swung it).
