OLB - Ryan Anderson - 2nd round, 2017 Draft
ILB - Rashan Evans - 1st round, 2018 Draft
ILB - Reuben Foster - 1st round, 2017 Draft
OLB - Tim Williams - 3rd round, 2017 Draft

DE - Jonathan Allen - 1st round, 2017 Draft
DT - DaRon Payne - 1st round, 2018 Draft

Got into a debate about this the other day. They were saying the defense let us down and I was saying the offense strategy let us down more than the execution. Why were we running hurry when our D clearly needed a breather.

I remember thinking that late in the game but I don't remember the circumstances. I'll have to rewatch.

If Jackson or SDH play in that game Bama wins. If Bo doesn't go down, Bama wins.

Bama was down 4 starters in the 4th quarter of that game.

Was down 5 starters in the 2nd half of this years NCG. Thankfully, this team had Tua.

A QB who can halfway throw the ball and Alabama wins. It's a MIRACLE the game was close against Watson with the way Alabama couldn't stay on the field after 3rd down.

Nasty AF !

Yeah, no QB, and a total debacle at Off Coordinator Vs the best QB and a great Off team in Clemson.

One of the things that will always sting the most for me is that defense composed of some of my favorite players of all time, and their heart and commitment being left on the field all night for four quarters until they had nothing left.

Sark running hurry up offense with a QB that basically guaranteed a three-and-out possession.

I literally feel my blood pressure rising just thinking about those dudes giving blood, sweat, and soul for 100 snaps until finally hands were on hips, and they were still fighting every yard of the way till the back breaker.

Makes me want to throat-punch Sark. Lets not all forget the role Kiff played by forcing Sabans hand into letting him go. A 75% committed to winning a title Kiff wins the title. SMGDH What a douche.

Jon Allen will forever be the standard... "Bama Does."

That D deserved a title.

That 2015 front 7 was monstrous all the same. The philosophy just changed and the QB got worse.

Jalen Hurts is a Shula level QB and that’s being generous.

we still had plenty of talent to win that game had we slowed down the pace and kept clock running imo

Three plays less of Jalen rolling right and running OB/throwing ball away, and three plays more of Harris up the middle would have shortened the game by over a minute...

Jus puked in my mouth a lil

Def. played it’s guts out that night. Left it all on the field. Watson deserved the heisman that yr, took his best game he could muster to win that night. Watson took a beating in that game, and just Would not quit. Gotta give respect for that effort.

From a BOL article:
quote:

All 11 of Alabama’s 2016 season-opening defensive starters have now been selected in the last two NFL drafts. Nine were chosen in the first three rounds. That number rises to 14 if Evans, Hand and Averett are included as reserves from that game against USC in Arlington, Texas, fittingly the site of the 2018 NFL Draft.

The real culprit is the qb evaluations during that time period. The fact that we needed Jalen Hurts to lead us is telling.

In a perfect world, Hackenberg would've committed to us instead of PSU.

There was some serious talent on both sides of the ball for that USC game. Trojans had a couple 1st rounders and several more early draft picks.

Oddly enough, the starting QBs were BB8 and Max Browne.

I don’t think the defense is blameless. While Jalens limits and Steve going in panic mode when Bo went down contributed the secondary specifically our corners didn’t win a single 50/50 ball. That led to some massive plays, along with costly penalties at the end. I do however, hate Sark for what he called.

I'd like to point out jalen's last 2 games under kiffin were 138 and 57 yard passing abortions. 8 carries for 1 yard and 19 carries for 50 yards respectively. 5 3rd down conversions and 4 in kiffins last game. Our offense vs clemson was very in line with the shitfest we had in the post season.

Before you blame Sarkisian, whose idea was it to fire Kiffin before the title game?

3 and out 7 times with no points, only twice sustained drives more than 5 plays, only twice longer than 2 minutes, and 11 series were of 1:30 and less. 3 points total for the 2 turnovers the defense forced on Clemson's side of the field.
