one of the QB's said its far from over

We have 3 qbs. Assuming you're not talking about Tua, then it's not surprising that Jalen or Mac thinkjs the qb situation isn't resolved. For that matter, the spring game indicates it's far from resolved who the #2 qb may be. Could be Jones.

So I had about 30 mins of that above convo asking about how the team felt about Jalen. It was overwhelming support, as in, he works hard for us and never quit on us kind of thing ( like a really good best friend).

I wouldn't expect any kid on the team to confess to a fan on the sideline anything but that Hurts works hard and is a nice guy.

quote:

One of the receivers who was present for this convo I asked directly "Did the receivers not like Jalen?" his reply " there was frustration at times but no one quit on Jalen"

And it's widely reported there was a near revolt among the receivers last year, in spite of some fans proclaiming during the season that everything was copacetic.

quote:

One of the ILB present for this talk said Jalen is under immense pressure, hasn't been social at all, actually showed frustration at practice etc.

Maybe because it's clear he isn't as good as Tagovailoa.

All this consternation about poor old Jalen is kind of silly imo. He's been given a free education to this point and an opportunity to win the SEC and national titles. He's just not good enough to win it all and he's not as good as #13. It's not a sin nor a crime. It just is what it is.

Barker wasn't even a good qb in high school. Jack Wood didn't run a passing offense at HT because Barker couldn't pass

He did go to camps in HS. And he played QB from the age of about 6, then played for one of the legendary AHSAA coaches

Yeah, and they ran the Wing-T offense from 7th grade on, passing on average 5-6 times a game.

I think you're interjecting your own bias into others comments. I never hinted that Barker was some gun slinger and I never said he was better than Jalen. In fact, I think Jalen is better, without a doubt as a runner, and probably as a passer, too. But it's not comparing apples to apples: different era's, different schemes, etc.

Jason Standridge played several years after Barker, and he was a fricking stud. Could sling the ball all over the field. And guess what, Jack Wood still ran the wing-t, passing 5-6 times a game.

Coach Wood finally changed his offense around 2000 with Brandon Cox as QB. But only because his ground and pound wing-T offense was getting boat raced by more progressive teams (Hoover, Pelham, Clay Chalkville, etc) every year.

All of this talk will disappear when Jalen isn't awarded the starting spot in fall and packs up his gear and leaves. Boz has had this weird man crush on Hurts for two years now and that's ok I guess. Went as far as blaming Calvin and the receivers for our offensive woes because they had drops like any other team has. You won't win this one.

It will be a blessing when Hurts transfers. I’m so sick of reading about a QB that can’t throw.

Boz, thanks for expanding on that convo.

The simple truth of what I'd like to see is Saban be a little less risk averse. I'd also like the best QB to play, no matter who it is. Hell, if Jalen figures out a way in the next 3 months to take a giant step forward in the passing game and gives us the best chance to win, play him.

I've got nothing personal against the kid, and I believe most here feel the same. But Bama is so good and recruits so many great offensive weapons that it has become very frustrating to watch our offense the last couple of years.

It's like our offense is a Lambo with a governor bolted to the engine. It's just not enjoyable to watch.

Sure, we win usually, and I certainly enjoy the wins. But I'm secretly hoping that Saban is gunning for that perfect team, that perfect season where you crush everybody by 50 and win them all.

If he's chasing history, that's how you catch it and solidify your place as the GOAT.

But me, I just want to get back to being optimistic and enjoying watching the game when our offense is on the field.

I’m not just a fan on the sideline so I’ll just stop answering anything else you said.

You still don’t get the difference between supporting the kid playing and homerism . It’s not a man crush it’s supporting the starter whoever it is and not trashing a kid. You have trashed Jalen to Ban levels several times. Receivers did drop passes and it was always excuses for them. We have great receivers but they make mistakes as well as Jalen.

I am hoping for the same I want what’s best for the team and the obviously would like Jalen to go out with respect if he does leave. Not a bunch of commander data’s saying he sucks.

All of the players, coaches, everybody should be treated with respect. And in Jalen's case, as with any other similar case, the effort he's given thus far should be particularly appreciated by his fellow players and fans alike.

But it's truer at Saban's Alabama than any other place - your spot is not guaranteed, it's earned - and the best player plays.

Unless you guys disagree with Saban's decisions, then you bitch like crazy and trash the hell out of players.

You're an annoying pissant of a person who's beneath me and normally easy to ignore, but I'll bite this time.

Search this or any other bama forum and show me where I've trashed a Bama player.

Post it in this thread. I'll wait, you ignorant cocksucker.

Hurts is only a smidge, smidge-and-a-half better at passing than Barker, and that's not near good enough to QB Bama going forward.

See, stuff like this is total bullshite and to compare Jalen Hurts to it is bullshite and it's bashing. All because of a single career stat, and as far as I could see it's the ONLY stat Jay Barker had that was better, and even then it was only because of his last season bringing his stats up.

It would be like me comparing you to a down syndrome kid. It's insulting and it's nothing more than backhanded way to trash a player.

But I'm not shocked you don't have the balls to stand by yourself. Talk about calling people pissants? I say what I mean and don't beat around the bush like a little beta bitch.

People like you are the reason I barely post. I'll know next time I see a post by you that says something like "Interesting stat" it's probably bullshite and not even close to being relevant.
