I'm not a violent person by nature, but something just takes over when I watch games live.

I almost got kicked out of our game against LSU in 2009 for getting into it with LSU fans. Same thing happened against Mississippi State that year in Starkville.
Almost got into a fight with a fellow Saints fan in 2009 because he boo'd Reggie Bush when he fielded a punt against the Giants. He took great exception to the fact I was wearing an Alabama fleece.

Couple weeks later I was in Atlanta watching the Saints take on the Falcons. Some dickhead didn't like me cheering when the Saints scored. We had words. He left.
In 2018 my wife and I went to the Saints-Rams regular season game. I got into it with a Rams fan because he told me to sit down when the entire Superdome was standing on 3rd and short.
I guess I act different because I typically leave the kids at home for bigger games with high stakes. When there are no kids around I drink and get heated.

There will be no children with me tomorrow afternoon.

Agreed. Haven’t heard any talking from the ND players which lets me know they have their heads down and are saving it for the game.

Really confused by the amount of consternation amongst Bama fans for this game. I guess people are just nervous because it's the CFP? Since Ole Miss, Bama has played one bad half of football (and really just one terrible quarter).
Maybe this game is close in the first half, but Bama should absolutely pull away in the second half and win by a few TDs. The only way I see ND having a real chance is if Bama decided to play "SEC CG 3rd quarter" football for an entire game, and that's just not going to happen with this team.

Where did your seats end up? We are in 412...I think.

Alabama has played 11 sec football games. I think the defense is who they are at this point, so I’m expecting confusion and wtf’s. The key to me is getting a couple of opportune stops and a couple of turnovers and hope the offense can build a lead.

So minus the times we played teams with decent offenses.
Notre dame has a decent offense, the defense has struggled all year.
It would be more insane to expect them to slow them down. Probably another high scoring close game

Our offense will be fine, but our defense will learn if they are truly men and tough or not, because Notre Dame is gonna damn sure punch them in the mouth and find out.
I feel confident we win, because I don't think they can stop us for 4 quarters. However, I'd be lying if I said I felt good about our defense manning up and playing sound, hard, physical, consistent football for those same 4 quarters.
I'd sure as hell love to come back in here and eat a big helping of crow though! Roll Tide.

No offense, but this is a really bad take. Outside of Ole Miss and one half against UF, this defense has actually been pretty good. So the defense has struggled against high powered, explosive offenses. Is that what you see when you watch ND play?
FWIW, Bama's defense is ranked #11 in the SP+, so not bad at all.

They have the right ingredients to create some mismatches.
Elite offensive line, elusive qb, and really good TEs.

I'm not scared or woe is me about this, I just think Notre Dame is pretty good all around and will fight their arse off.
It's the playoffs, teams are usually really good. I think we'll get their best.

Exactly, I don't think Notre Dame is Clemson. But this is a game that has some unique matchups for them to take advantage.
I think people get the false sense of security that they are not explosive throwing down field. Thus we can stop them.
Everyone else besides Florida found success attacking us over the middle matching up our poor LBs in coverage.
It all boils down to whether or not we can play good red zone defense. I expect we will do well there today.
However everyone will be whining when we give up a bunch of yards to Notre Dame

Oh god, I can't even imagine what your analysis of a Bama-Clemson matchup would be.

ND has been hearing all about our last matchup; how overrated they are; their record in BCS/CFP games; etc.. They're absolutely going to give us all we can handle.
To be fair, they have been hearing that before every big game they have played since then and have shite the bed in all of them. Kelly has them in a much better place than they were back then though. I don't think they're as good as they looked against Clemson in round 1 or as bad as they looked in round 2. It won't be a cakewalk.

I’ll say this, there is way too much “Notre Dame has no chance” talk out there for my liking. Most of the talking heads on ESPN are even saying it.

This. I've a strong feeling the game play will be much closer than the final score.
ND is plenty talented upfront on both sides of the ball. They have a lot of pride and experience as a team.
All they have heard since the Clemson game is how they will get blown out, like always, in games that matter vs the big boys of CFB.
I think they come ready to play their best football over 4 qtrs.
Bama needs to jump on them early and take some of the fight and emotion out of the game for them.
They have a great OL but lost their starting center due to a knee surgery in late Nov. Their backup has been battling and ankle injury, which led to the third center playing. This hurt them in the ACC CG as Clemson bullied them up front. They also have a bit of an undersized DL with only 2 north of 285 lbs, and one of those (Lacey) is questionable for the game. That along with a knee injury to another DL in Ademilola could create some opportunities in the run game for Bama to control clock and wear ND down. They are also soft in pass defense, which will be problematic for them if Mac is [ON], which he certainly should be.
They do have their speedster WR, Braden Lenzy, coming back from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since OCT. And, Ian Book is a playmaker who shows a lot of toughness and determination. So long as he doesn't have one of those superman QB days, which are occasional vs Bama, it won't be enough over 4 qtrs.
That said, and again, ND has talent and will play with a lot of emotion. It could be a street fight early and/or until Bama wears them down and survives the emotional charge. Bama will have to earn it. It is a CFP game, not the cake walk some of the media talking heads are making it out to be.
Bama 45 - ND 24... just win and advance!

I got a good bit of downvotes for similar sentiment in the prediction thread:
quote:
Notre Dame’s offense is actually really bad matchup for our defense, based on the strengths and weaknesses of both units. What they do well on offense is what we have issues with on D, and what we do well on D, ND really doesn’t play to anyway.
Interior Run Game: Its well documented that we aren’t the Saban-Bama-D of old between the tackles. ND have a great run blocking OL (Moore Award) and a good RB. Their interior running game will be as good as we have seen since Georgia.
Middle Of Field Passing: Their 2 best receivers are both TEs. Their top 3 actual WRs have less receptions, combined, than Devonta Smith by himself. The Yeboah (OM) / Nydermeyer (A&M) /Pitts (UF) playbook is what ND is best at in the passing game. They hardly even try to get vertical outside the hashes.
Improvisation: Its also well documented that our D has had fits over the years dealing with players who have the ability to make plays outside of the play design. Book is one of the better playground players in the country. Almost all of ND’s downfield offense comes off of these plays. He isn’t Manziel/Newton/Watson good, but he is a better than the likes of Mond (A&M), Chad Kelly (OM), Nix/Marshall (AU).
Vertical Passing Game: Our biggest strength by far on defense this year. Surtain/Jobe/Moore have been great in coverage on WRs and our pass rush has went from lukewarm at the beginning of the year to red hot the last 5 games of the season. Unfortunately, ND barely even attempts to attack a defense here by design.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see them put up between 30-35, and I know that will have some people raging here. But I don’t think they can keep our offense out of the 40s, so we should still be able to handle them.
