I just don’t see how anything that starts this rotten can work out

I liked Lane, I think he’s a good coach and I was kind of proud to see how he’d rehabbed his image in CFB, but I think he’s self-destructing here and it’s not going to work out in the long run.

Although I think it was clear that somehow he burned every bridge back to Tuscaloosa, I was actually enjoying the success he was having at OM. I can’t say I’ll feel the same about LSU, but honestly I don’t think I’ll have to. Anything that starts this badly usually doesn’t end well.

The Kiffin Krashout at LSU will be spectacular. The Baton Rouge/New Orleans media won't cover for him for long with his off field antics. Guy is a walking train wreck and he is going to a place that won't have guardrails on him.

He's a dead man walking. LSU fans are already setting themselves up for serious disappointment with their laughably absurd expectations (like they do every single year). They legit think Kiffin's gonna walz in there and easily go 16-0 every year. The reason? He won with less... just like Brian Kelly, Billy Napier and Hugh Freeze. They're going to melt so hard when he loses his first game next year, things may get violent. Especially when reality slaps them in the face. Kiffin is a good coach but he's notorious for losing games he shouldn't. And when he gets pantsed by another SEC team with zero conference wins, it's gonna get ugly. He'll have a very short leash.

Plus you saw how Kiffin reacted when a beat reporter called him a ho. Dude won't be handle the heat from LSU fans. Theyll call Lane and his family every name in the book, threaten his children, stalk his girlfriend, etc. I legit think Kiffin only took this job for the payout. He knows how insane their fans are, how the administration treated Kelly and the fact that they wont tolerate 9-3 seasons at LSU unlike Florida and Ole Miss. But I bet he'll coast until he gets thay buyout just like Kelly did.

Lane is just a rolling stone. I think a psychologist could have a field day with him. It’s not simply immaturity, he just can’t sit still. I doubt he will ever go 11-1 with LSU. Maybe he just likes feeling the rush of a new place and new people to appreciate him?

They do have a pretty manageable schedule next year unfortunately. All their tough games are at home.

Never thought I'd see a HC abrubtly leave his team for another when they're going to the playoff, national champion contender.
I actually feel sorry for Ole Miss.
Lane has gotten even richer, however, it's a low blow he gave, bad look for his image, considering the circumstances, should be embarrased.

Yes agree.

He will probably do well his first year to ease him into a 9+ win season with a favored schedule.

Schedule flips on him in year 2. That is probably when everyone will realize if he is a contender or a pretender. (I think he will be the real deal and a potential dynasty in the making at LSU)

In today's era of NIL/transfer portal football, I'm not convinced LSU is THAT much better of a job. He's giving up a lot of leeway and good will at Ole Miss to go to a program that's equal parts tradition and psychotic dysfunction. And he's doing it at a time when the value of tradition is at an all-time low.

I'm not either. OM isn't going to fire you for back to back 9-3 seasons for one thing. That's the golden age for them. And they don't have the same dumpster fire of an administration or a moron governor publicly interfering with the athletics department either.

The mess he leaves at his former employers is not a problem for LSU. Realistically, LSU is a "terminal position" for head coaches in the 21st century. He's either going to flourish there and coach until he wants to hang em up OR he's going to crash out and decide whether he wants to restart his path through the coaching cursus honorum. I suppose there is a chance the NFL may call his name. However, I suspect that chances of that happening are slim to none because he went out of Oakland on terms that probably blackballs him with NFL owners.
