I’m liking Clemson being the big boys on the block now. I want to hear more people saying Bama’s fun is over and done. I’m expecting LSU and Auburn to both have very solid teams and A&M will be tough. Arkansas can only get better and the two Mississippi teams always give us their most motivated shot. I wish we were playing a tougher team than Duke to get a good read before conference play. I’m worried about missing Dan Enos because I believe he helped Jalen progress in his passing game and Enos May be missed. I’d like to see a more 50/50 run to pass ratio this year.

My hope is that we redevelop the old toughness in the running game. There is nothing more devastating than true balance. I was quite surprised at how ineffective we were a times on the ground last year.

Two factors in that: we got so busy teaching our O-line how to pass block and not go downfield for RPOs they forgot how to drive block and be mean Kick-your-arse guys when we needed it. Second factor is we had one back last year that would get the tough yards in Baby Rhino and we didn’t utilize him enough. Najee has his moments but he’s way too inconsistent for an every down back IMHO. I think the carries will be split a lot more than most expect.

Saw where one insider said Trey Sanders has had a great summer and is probably the number 2 back behind Harris.

was just scanning thru espn's FPI rankings, yeah yeah i know. but technically, it's still off season, lol.

we all know the acc just isnt on par with the sec as a whole, in football. however, i was a little surprised at, what i see as, a huge margin. they have clemson's percentage chance of winning the acc at %88. while bama's chance of winning the sec is at %46. now heres where i say, i have no clue to their formula's. but a %42 difference in strength of conference, to me, is gigantic! am i way off in thinking this?

I've been saying it for months now. The ACC is so bad that I believe it's below one G5 conference - the AAC. The AAC has UCF, USF, Houston, Memphis and Cincinnati as their 5 best teams, and that's a better lot that what's at the top of the ACC after Clemson. And ECU, Tulane, and Temple are as good as what's in the middle and bottom of the ACC.

I think the current conference rank is:

SEC
Big10
BIG12
PAC12
AAC
ACC
Mountain West
Everybody else

And congrats to Clemson for their having won 2 titles, but their run of late has happened in the context of the ACC and South Carolina collapsing around them. Their 'road' to the playoffs has really been a slip-n-slide for a few years.

While I'm sure Sanders has impressed in conditioning since May 30th, he's never so much as played a practice down in any capacity. There's no possible way he can be our number 2 back. Folks may be predicting him to be a quick riser, fine - but as of this statement, there's literally no possible way he jumped anyone who's been in the system for a year or 2. Literally no possible way.

I am assuming you mean *Sanders, but

bro, come on, it is absolutely a possibility. Why are you so sure that it is not?

Yes, my bad. I'll fix it.

Because the only way to move up the depth chart is to play football better than the other players on said depth chart, and the amount of "football" Sanders has played for Alabama is Zero. Sanders arrived on May 30th, and Alabama has not had any practices or any coach-led activities regarding Xs and Os. Sanders has yet to go through RB drills. Sanders has yet to pick up a blitz for the first time. Sanders has yet to carry a football against a defense. Sanders has yet to break a tackle. Honestly, Sanders has yet to play football for Alabama for one single play.

In short, all Sanders has done is go through Summer conditioning and attempt to absorb the playbook. He ought to be participating in player-led skeleton passing drills. I'd assume someone, likely other players, are helping him with said playbook and in film sessions (ideally). Sanders may be a bright kid (I personally don't know) and he may be an impressive physical specimen (I personally don't know), but that's all any hype or expectation can be based on. He literally hasn't had the opportunity to participate in any football activities where he could perform in such a way so as to move up the depth chart. Again, he could be a fast riser, but until he performs at practice, he starts at the bottom like everyone else.

Of course it is. Brian Robinson has done wonderful, has amazing size/speed combo and the fan base loves the guy but Sanders is a beast. I think we have a three headed beast again this year although I won't be surprised if Najee runs away with the majority of carries.

How could anyone possibly be our number 2 RB at this moment, when they've been on campus for only 61 days and never participated in a single practice? The idea is ludicrous.

Your points are all good, but I kind of took it as him saying he will be the number two, like he'll be getting RB2 carries pretty quickly.

I agree. Until they put on pads, and prove they can block, and know the play book, this is just pure speculation. Fantasy football. Jumping Robinson will not be easy. He is big and fast.

But I am more worried about the O line than the backs.
Against Ga and Clemson, they couldnt run block or pass block. Over and over we could not gain a yard on 3rd and short. Kirby said Alabama was the only team that they were able to pressure the QB. Saban has been chirping about that since Spring practice.

I'd say it's about SoS to be more exact. Which yeah, has a lot to do with conference strength and even more so division strength.

Clemson only has FSU in it's division and they have sucked since Saban sucked their souls out. Miami, VT, GT, Pitt and others are in the other division.

Meanwhile Alabama plays in by far the toughest division in college football.
