I sincerely loathe how the University squeezes maximium money out of every fan at every opportunity

Fond memories of the night-time sprints to the quad to stake a claim when the time came. Made for a really neat tailgating experience. Now it's a cocktail hour for rich folks.

I made the same comments to my friend for the WKU game. We usually park downtown and go to the bars. This year we got parking passes to part behind the biology building. Haven't really been that way or on campus strolling through the quad in about 5 years or so. But we got there around 11 and there was nobody out tailgating and it was depressing. I remember, like you said, how it was insane the night before trying to get a spot on the quad. It is a shell of it's former self now and it makes me sad.

All I see is a picture of an empty tent with a television hanging in it.

A little OT, but this Zeta is going to bank $2m by the time she graduates. It is a different world now.

I remember during the Shula days you could use a generator and have a blow up tent. Those were the days.

its a business at the end of the day. If people are willing to pay it then the school should be allowed to charge it.

If Battle would not have negotiated an awful Nike deal then may the school would not have to penny pinch. I doubt that too since we do not have billionaire donors on the ready.

Kudos to the school for keeping up with the arms race that is college football.

Speaking of Nike, I thought the deal is up in 2025, right? If so, surely to God we have someone COMPETENT negotiating and NOT some goober who is related to someone in the Athletic Department and doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing.

I don’t know if this is the group that got this deal to set up those tents but the original group or company was founded by some Auburn alums. To me, this is blasphemy. I don’t any of walking piles of dog crap to make any money from Bama.

I think you are referring to Gene Hallman and the Bruno Event Team. IIRC they had a lot to do with the Game Day tents and the money that followed.

To be fair, they treat their students and employees the same way, so why should we be any different?

Why did the university ban tailgating on University Blvd? I remember when tents were lined up along the sidewalks from DCH to the quad. Always preferred having the tailgating scene more spread out than confined to the quad.
