The perfect play call would have been exactly what they ran but have Milroe throw the jump pass like Tebow did right at the LOS. With all the attention on Milroe, receivers split wide and the running back taking the other defensive player wide....nobody would be in the middle.

Doubt the Tebow would have worked with Latham getting blown up and lying at hi feet.
He had to either pass to the RB or follow the pulling guard. Pass was difficult because the end was in the way. He couldn’t follow the guard because the poor snap messed up the timing and Milroe panicked.

There's only one reason to have the RG pull like that on that play. One reason, and one reason only. And it sure as hell isn't to pass protect.

Well it's been said all year that Milroe is a superb athlete but he can't run all of the RPO's and other plays because he doesn't process the field action that fast. Looks like he didn't even try to complete the swing pass that was called,just ducked and ran.Hope we have a more cerebral QB next year.

That’s a great view of that play. From that clip, I’m wondering now if Roberts was supposed to help 81 on blocking out #8 to open up that hole. It would explain why they didn’t bother blocking #0 & why Milroe committed to that spot so quickly. If Roberts does help kick out #8 in that hole, it’s an open hole for Milroe. May never know, but it makes more sense.
* also would explain why we’d have a mauler like Roberts pulling that close to the goal line. Him pulling all the way across to that side for a seal block doesn’t make much sense.

The center was awful ALL SEASON. That snap was par for the course pretty much 40% of the time this year. Why all of a sudden everyone is acting like this snap was anything different than every snap he made all season.
Just accept it... We got outcoached with the timeouts and adjustments before the play, then called a play beyond milroe ability, then milroe panicked and literally dove into the pile directly at the LOS absolutely nowhere near the goal line. lol It is what it is. Any other option would have been better than that.

Milroe was supposed to follow him but he was clearly confused about the play call.
Everything about the play indicates it was designed to go left, but after Milroe takes the snap his first look was to the right, and then right up the middle... never looked left which is where all the options were, and the 320lb guard that was there to lead him into the endzone.

The more I watch it, the less blame I put on Milroe.
If the play was designed to go left, by the time he caught the ball at his shins, and looked up, he saw two defenders right where the play was supposed to go. I am pretty confident that he saw a clear path to the end zone, and there would have been, BUT Dippre let his guy crash all the way from his defensive end position across tackle and guard into the middle of the line. Tough block I reckon. Great play by the d end. But it seems to me that Proctor should have helped Dippre keep him from crashing down.
Instead 74 tries to go to the next level to block the LBer who didn't need to be blocked because he had vacated entirely with Williams's motion to the left. Proctor ends up blocking NO ONE.
And then Dippre not only lets the guy crash the middle of the point of attack, but as he tries to stay with him he also clogs the middle up even more, which effectively left Milroe zero room to do anything. Latham getting destroyed and crashing into him was the icing on the cake. If the play was blocked correctly, he would have walked into the end zone. I'd argue that if the snap isn't bad, Milroe has time to clear Latham, making him getting destroyed a non-factor.
I think that Milroe probably committed too early, but that is a pretty tough situation, especially with the snap at his shins.

Agree…This ^ shows kinda what I was talking about as far as the blocking scheme and Milroe committing to that hole so early, it sure looks like they were trying to seal off that hole & would explain them letting #0 go unblocked. But I could be wrong…it happens a lot, lol.

Lets get real, it was slightly better than 40% of the snaps all season long. Every play we ran all year started with a bad snap, and this one in particular while not good wasnt nearly as bad as a lot of the others, and was almost knee high. It wasnt the snap.
