Yep, Bama needs one of those Ohio State 2014 59-0 type games to move the needle.
But, we all know it ain't happening.
Our defense is bad enough that Auburn will at the very least, sustain drives and eat a lot of clock, limiting our possessions.
Further, our offense will inexplicably try to run up the middle all day, resulting in an abundance of 3rd and longs.
The biggest margin of victory Bama could possibly have is about 2 touchdowns. That's it.
We all know if there is one team that will do stupid things, like drop punts, it will be Alabama.
That fourth down pass that Bo Nix threw 6 feet behind the wide open receiver late last week? He'll hit him in perfect stride against Alabama

Kind of amazing that a 5 point loss to the #1 team supposedly knocks us out of it while UGA loses to a crap South Carolina team, Oregon loses to the 5th best SEC team, and Clemson gets to coast in on the backs of a bunch of creampuffs....but I get it. If we had something else outside of a (potential) win over a 4 loss Auburn team, we'd probably have something to hang our hat on. We knew going into the LSU game that our season was on the line. That's what makes the first half so frustrating to me.

I buy that its tough to find people to play us but I also think Bill Battle was a horrible AD and mailing in our schedule fits his modus operandi.

Yea I think we would have beaten most #7-20 type teams this year, and a lot of them with ease.

But we didn't get the chance, and that's how this works. It is what it is.

Also, did anyone see what Saban said last night? They are actively engaged on some more OOC games and their full intention is to play 2 P5 games a year every year. Pretty fantastic.

Yea it sucks our schedule is this bad. But we have not had a single close game other than LSU. You can say that Washington is about as good as A&M that's fine. But we dominated A&M while Utah and Oregon barely beat UW. And I don't think that we are in the fight of our lives in home games against Cal and WSU the way Oregon was

Similarly, Minnesota was in a dog fight again South Dakota State, Fresno State, Georgia Southern, and Purdue

In the end, we put ourselves at the mercy of the Chick-Fil-A kickoff and they set us up with an awful opponent. If we dominated a top-25 team to start the year, we are having a very different conversation

Does anyone else think A&M might sneak a win over Georgia? Georgia just had a tough rivalry game and could get caught looking ahead to the SECCG. I don’t expect it’ll happen, but if it did that’d be another ranked win because surely an 8-3 A&M with a win over Georgia is in the top 20 and could maybe stay ranked after a loss to LSU.

I don't think so, but it wouldn't shock me.

Their offense had a tough game, but their defense probably has more trouble against their 2s and 3s in practice than they did against AU.

I think the writing is on the wall with future scheduling. You have most P5 teams scrambling to schedule other P5 schools and the FCS games are being kicked to the curb. I believe the message has been sent privately or leaked that soon the committee will mandate games against only FBS schools and 9 or 10 must be P5.

I hope we can all agree that if we go in and beat Auburn we will be happy and not be dissapointed we didn't win 49-3.......right?

We can all agree on that?
I'd be ecstatic over a 1-point win. I honestly don't see us as a playoff team without Tua....no disrespect to Jones.

If Ohio State loses to Penn State today, I assume we slide to #4 Tuesday? Unlikely, but it would be interesting.

I highly doubt they would put us over a 1 loss OSU team or even a one loss PSU team that beat the OSU team. It’d be better for us if OSU won.

PSU team

PSU beats OSU. Then loses to Wisconsin in the Big 10 championship game- they match up poorly with them. OSU has a home loss an their best win would be over a 3 or 4 loss Michigan team. Our loss would be a better loss I think. But would the media ad Big X stand having Bama get put in the playoffs over them?

The committee is already giving them selves a path to pick Oregon or a PAC 12 team over us. They ranked USC 24th even though they had 4 losses compared to aTm. USC also plays their 12th and final regular season game today against a 4 win UCLA. So they will stay in the top 25 help Oregon with a ranked win and Utah as a close loss.
