did Pearl complete his 3 year show cause penalty before Auburn hired him? Yes or no?

Yes, but for a second offense (and that is excluding Pearl's tampering/ tape doctoring in Deon Thomas' recruiting when Pearl was at Iowa) to get a two game suspension instead of, at minimum, another 3 year show cause means the NCAA is doing little to stop cheating these days, and whatever Pruitt has done at Tennessee, it will be nothing compared to Bruce Pearl's lifetime of cheating.

I'm not disagreeing with any of that.

The point is that in both cases, the NCAA ruled, and Auburn complied. He had the show cause...Auburn didn't hire him until it expired. Then, he was suspended this year, and he served the suspension and Auburn did not appeal.

The NCAA hasn't said anything about Pruitt yet, even though NCAA officials were involved in the investigation that got him fired. There's no way of knowing if it's over or not.

At a minimum, Alabama would seek and get an OK from the NCAA before hiring him, regardless of whether or not the NCAA has closed the books on Tennessee.

Did you speak up on Bill O'Brien not being a great fit? Probably not...my main thing is and I will continue reiterating it and is that he can develop quarterbacks. He has done so at every coaching stop.

He would of been a better FIT for Bama this year!

You can't just keep saying he develops quarterbacks without giving us any examples of development

Pearl's show cause expired August 2014.

"Pearl was hired as head coach at Auburn in March 2014—the first known instance of a coach being hired at a power conference school after serving a show-cause. During the July 2014 recruiting period, he was allowed to evaluate players but was barred from contact with them."

They hired him while he was still on a show-cause. He was later convicted of recruiting violations there, yet the NCAA still didn't exactly hammer them to oblivion.

Umm, did you not see MAC JONES? Why do you think Sark took AJ with him? I mean I don't have to say or prove anything! It's already out there but people downplay him because he's been at smaller schools but the people who are really connected with the Alabama football team knows how talented the guy is.

He is just MY number one pick for OC now there's others I like...

Dan Mullen
Freddie Kitchens
Joe Brady

My questions then would be will they recruit and how long will they stay?

I’m not saying that you’re right or wrong, I’m just wondering why you are giving AJ the credit for Mac. What am I missing

Also that Pruitt is coming back not as DC.

Nearly two days in with no news but I'm still choosing to believe all of this. Gotta make it through the offseason somehow

I’m more than happy to entertain and even listen to his argument, I just wanna know why AJ gets the credit for Mac? It’s an honest question. Why wasn’t it Sark? Hell if we are picking randoms, then why wasn’t it the WR coach. shite

There have been plenty of rumors from different sources saying he’s a target for NFL HC jobs, Plenty of failed coaches keep getting hired in the NFL.

He was fine as an NFL head coach at the coaching aspect.

Sark most definitely helped. I didn't mean to discredit him.

I think it's a pretty good bet that he'll go back to the NFL even if it's as an assistant.

What I wonder is why these relatively older coaches keep doing it after making millions per year. I know more money is good, but the celebrity is probably a huge draw too. Me? I think I'd take my fat bank account to an island somewhere.

To feel a sense of purpose. Same reason a lot of people in their late 50s/early 60s aren't even contemplating retirement, much less actively planning for it.
